Logistical Details

The "theater" of operations would be sector FF, always on argentine territory and air space. Different areas of the Andes mountain range will be used, cinluding valleys and mountain sides. Mountain woods, rocky surfaces and snow covered areas would also be affected by the training.

All personnel would be mobilized with their traditional full combat gear. Each of the logistic companies of the Divisions would be in charge of stocking supplies and equipment to safely support the needs of the personnel and equipment participating in the exercise, including training ammunition, food, liquids and medical supplies.

Special encampments would be set up in addition to different buildings like gyms and military barracks being used to accomodate the personnel in the Mendoza and San Juan areas.

A prudential period of time would be given to all participating units to mobilize and get ready. Some units would stay at their usual bases, given they are near the theater of operations.

Advance encampments would be prepared at strategic points up in the Andes.

Special areas would be assigned to parg and give maintenance to all vehicles involved in the Exercise.

Early in the morning preparations would be made to have all troops begin the exercise.

All Infantry units would start with marching and field instructions on basic mountain warfare tactics, basically refreshing and getting into more detail in what they say during past Exercises. They would begin in the low valleys and ascend some of the mountains in the area. They would carry full mountain combat gear and make stops to rests from time to time and to hear instructions from the experts.

Mechanized Infantry Units attached to the Mountain Infantry Divisions would have theoretical lessons on how the mountain climate could have an impact in their vehicles. They would look into detail how each fo their assigned vehicles might behave. Special classes would be given to drivers and, if needed, gunners. Mechanics would have their own practical lessons.

The Commando and Air Assault units would board, in groups, the UH-1 Helicopters from Exercise Mountain People Beta and carry out high altitue air drops and positioning.

Artillery units would have their Oto Melara and the RBS-70 set up for firing practice in the mountains. Different targets would be used for the ground artillery at different distances and angles and aerial practice drones would be used to train the troops in the usage of the RBS-70s.

Communication and other support units would practice their routines and usual operations in the moutnain environment.

All this would be done secretly.

All units, regardless of their speciality would continue their intensive advanced mountain warfare exercises. Now, the marches would be shortened to include spontaneous drills that force the small colulmns that were formed with the platoons and other minor structures to break lines and take cover.

"Aggresor" units would be assembled and tasked to harass the marching columns with dummy ammunition and smoke granades. This would also be used to practice more offensive actions and teaching the infantry defensive, on one side, and offensive mountain combat tactics like using the terrain and metereological factors in their favor.

In the meantime, the mechanized and armored units would form convoys and follow specially prepared mountain courses that had them drive through different real-life mountain scenarios both during day and night time.

Communication and other support units would practice their routines and usual operations in the moutnain environment.

Anti-air units would continue practicing, this time they would have to conduct quick assembly and launch drills in case of surprise encounters.

All this would be done secretly.

With the exercise moving on and all units improving and learning, they would now begin to set up more detail "war games". Groups of units would be tasked to set up camps in different assigned points and prepare certain missions. Some would be ordered to conduct assault missions or to secure determined perimeters. They would be given the same level of isntructions and equipment as if the mission would be real, with the difference that they would all be carrying dummy munition and practice grenades (smoke).

Other on the other hand would be given missions to hold certain areas or to repel any "enemy incursion". All missions would be secret and only informed the the directly involved party, so the "match ups" that would be formed give an element of surprise and randomness to the procedure as the untis would enver be sure what they would be encountering on the field.

These missions would take place during different stages of the night and day, as well as in different mountian environments such as valleys, hills or even rocky mountaintops.

This practice would not only give the troops endurance adn experience but make them comfortable in operating in mountain and col environments.

Artillery units would practice quick deployments making use of the UH-1 helicopters carrying Oto Melaras 56 up to firing positions together with artillery crews on board. They would be quickly droped of and the squads had to install and fire the field artillery field in a short time before being pick up again.

All this would be done secretly.

All types of units would continue their advanced mountian warfare course, stepping up the intensity of the drills. The attacking and defending units would now switch sides and interchange objectives.

The defending units labeled as "reds" would try to fend of the differen "blue" attackers. The attacking infantry units, in different formation sizes, would execute different basic meneuvers to try infiltrate and eliminate the opposing resistance making use of the terrain.

They would experience different scenarios while doing this, such as fighting in the woods, on barren mountain sides, in between the snow and with sometimes severe climate conditions such as important gusts of wind or ocasionally snowfall. The period of time of the exercise, winter in the southern hemishpere, would algo help give the troops some real harsh conditions they could eventually encounter while operating in this terrain.

All participating units would reach the final stages of the this large trainig exercise with a last drill of survival under harsh mountain conditions. This would help condition the infantry units to carry out operations and missions in small groups, isolated on mountain terrain.

All along the exercise they would continue gaining experience with mountain equipmetn and carrying and mantaining their full combat gear.

The units would have gain also a good insight on the geography and surroundings of the main border crossings through the Andes moutnain range towards the neighbouring territory of the Republic of Chile.

Once completed, all units would receive their corresponding badge, indicating their now advanced mountain warfare experience and with a lot of direct experienced learned.

They would return to their ususal bases and routines.

Training complete.
