[Belgium] Statement from The Foreign Office on Zimbabwe

The Foreign Office of The Kingdom of Belgium would like to announce the closure of its embassies and consulates in Zimbabwe until further notice and the suspension of diplomatic bilateral relations.

Furthermore, The Kingdom of Belgium would like to condemn the actions of the Mugabe regime in Harare for its consistent lack of regard for basic human rights and consequently, the rule of law.

We ask that all Belgian citizens take the appropriate measures to exit the country as soon as feasibly possible and return home while conditions on the ground are permissive.

Upon being informed of the public statement made by The Kingdom of Belgium, the Zimbabwean Foreign Ministry was quick to release a counter-statement from the minister, Isaak Stanislaus Gorerazvo Mudenge.

"The Republic of Zimbabwe condemns The Kingdom of Belgium, an imperialist nation that enslaved Africans, and allowed their King, Leopold II, to own what is now Zaire as his private property. Within the space of 23 years, the genocidal monarch of Belgium had brutally murdered around 50% of the native population. To see them now throwing around baseless slander of those that the Belgian people naturally see as inferior to them, due to their historical, and inherent, racism does not come as a surprise. Zimbabwe is a proud and independent state that will never allow itself to be subjugated by the white man ever again, because it's the white man that is the cause of all of the planet's problems.

The White West knows that Zimbabwe would grow to overshadow them if left alone, which is why they willingly engage in both covert, and overt, acts of sabotage against our people. The Zimbabwean government knows this, and we are actively seeking to root out the traitors and spies that seek to hold The Zimbabwean People back from their true destiny as a great power."

"The Kingdom of Belgium is aware of its previous misadventures in Africa along with the pain, misery, and woe that it has caused as a result of these misadventures. We are not the same nation we were a century ago and subsequently have taken steps to rectify our past.

It is the understanding of the people and government of Belgium, that Zimbabwe has achieved much in the last 15-6 years since independence in 1980 and in so far as this is the case we have nothing but respect for the liberation struggle and the founding principles upon which said struggle rests. However, it is most unfortunate that these same principles have over time morphed into a source of justification for lawlessness and inhumanity as was the case between 1983 and 1987 when the Fifth brigade supported by the CIO murdered some 30,000 people under the guise of securing national interests. We are not easily fooled nor are we guilt-tripped by your retorts regarding events that have for various reasons ceased to be historically and politically relevant after an entire century."

A further statement is released in reaction to the response made by The Kingdom of Belgium.

"Yet again, we are treated with disdain by the racist Belgians. Who attempt to undermine our desire for self-government by trying to frame a legitimate operation to protect the state from an insurrection by terrorists as a genocide. The only people who need to look in the mirror, and feel disgust, are the whites that saw fit to enslave and slaughter blacks like lambs. The Slave Trade, The Congo Free State, the allegedly 'free' United States of America and its Jim Crow laws. The single greatest threat to Zimbabwe is not the government, as stated by traitors within our borders, and the racists outside unwilling to recognise that they are blinded by the sickness that is white supremacy, the fallacy that they are the masters of all they see by virtue of their white skin.

The Belgian Imperialists try to bury their own crimes against humanity with the claim of 'that is in the past', but the hatred and disdain they feel for those who are not like them still flows through their veins. The lies they gleefully spread about Zimbabwe are undeniable proof that they have not moved on from the past they claim to have abandoned. Zimbabwe will stand tall and proud against them, we shall stand tall and proud against all white supremacists across the globe, no matter which banner they hail from. Every attempt they make to keep us subservient will be resisted. Their attempts to sabotage our progress to a brighter future will be foiled. Their wanton acts of aggression will be met with righteous justice that will see them shown the error of their racist lies of white superiority.

In response to Zimbabwe's counter statement, Belgium would issue a rebuke:

"Accusations of racialism on the part of the Zimbabwean government directed against the Belgian state are without substantiation or basis in reality. Furthermore, the insistance that Belgium is somehow trying to undermine the independence of Zimbabwe remain unfounded and merely a pitiful excuse for the use of excessive force against peaceful protests which the state controlled media of Zimbabwe has convienently enough claimed to be a riot.

Again, we would like to point out that Belgium has taken steps to heal the wounds of the past on a national basis which among other things included the declassification of sensitive documents regarding the colonial administration in the Congo and plans to declassify documents related to the former colonies of Rwanda and Burundi while expanding efforts to combat all forms of prejudice at home through education and the media.

On a final note, The Government of The Kingdom of Belgium does not endorse racism or prejudice of any form nor is its opposition to the Mugabe regime rooted in some bogus notion of white superiority as previously claimed."

Statement of the Foreign Embassy of Brazil​

The Foreign Embassy of Brazil in Harare would release the following statement.

The Empire of Brazil would like to express its support with Belgium's decision and condones the infringement of Human Rights made by Mugabe's growing Authoritarian and inadequate Government, urging Brazilians who currently reside in Zimbabwe to leave the country immediately.

Furthermore, We are prepared to open the Embassy for Brazilians who wish to take refuge from the country's violence and those who wish for help in leaving the country through visas. The Brazilian Embassy also offers to assist Belgian nationals who wish to seek refuge and assistance in leaving the country

In response to the statement by the Brazilian Embassy in Harare, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued an edict stating that officers of The Zimbabwe Republic Police would be stationed in the vicinity of the Belgian and Brazilian embassies to screen potential visitors. Any Zimbabwean who was found to be attempting to gain entry to the embassy to apply for asylum or refugee status would be turned back, or arrested. Belgian and Brazilian citizens, however, were left alone to visit the premises.
