[Brazil] Phonecall to Portugal

The Brazilian Chief of War and Defense, Antonio de Quadros Peixoto, after making sure the call was encrypted and secure, would call the Portuguese Minister, Dom Norberto Catarina Almeida.

The phone would ring, and members of the MSI would securely encrypt the call on their end. The minister, after watching Operation Maziua unfold its first few minutes, would go to the phone and answer it.

"You have reached Don Noberto Almeida, Minister of National Security of Portugal. How can I be of service?"

Antonio smiled.

"Hello Mr Almeida, I am Antonio de Quadros Peixoto, Chief of War and Defense of the Empire of Brazil. With the signing of the recent Treaty of Lisbon, I'd like to talk to you about matters regarding both of our countries and their Armed Forces."

"Good Morning Mr Peixoto. It is a pleasure to speak with you. With regards to our armed forces, is there anything you wish to inquire about? After all, national security is both of our position's top priority."

"The pleasure is all mine, I'd like to start off these talks with a proposal.

With the recent signing of the Treaty of Lisbon, Brazil would like to invite Portugal to a Naval Exercise between both of our Navies, the Exercise would occur in the Northern Atlantic and would help with the training of both of our Navies.

On other topics, Brazil would like to know if Portugal would be interested in purchasing any equipment, or even, acquiring any licenses regarding some of our products."

"A Naval Exercise you say? It's certainly an interesting proposal. We are currently waiting for our first frigate to embark on her maiden voyage, the exercise would be a wonderful first mission. If you may, we can schedule the naval exercise about a week from now. By then, we're willing to train along side our Brazilian brothers."

"With regards to equipment, we are currently trying to restock on our artillery pieces, and we had just sent an order form to your War Exports department. We were wondering if it were possible to acquire a license to the Astros II. If you wish you may acquire a license of our military products of any kind, in return."

"I believe that would work I shall notify the Imperial Navy High Command of the date.

With regards to the Astros II, a License can be arranged, If I may, would Portugal be interested in some of Brazil's Aircraft? If yes, I could give you a list of Aircraft we may offer you and perhaps, if interested, we may offer you licenses for those too."

"Aircraft would be lovely to have, our Air Force does need a little brush up." The Minister would pause before continuing.

"Although, I must ask what does your Government want in return? Surely Portugal owes Brazil a debt of gratitude. I can offer a few key things, although those are classified for the time being."

"Ah well, we would be interested in acquiring a License for the Tridente Class Submarine and the
Viana do Castelo Class Patrol Boat if those are available.

When it comes to what we can offer." Antonio put on his reading glasses, reading his list.

"When it comes to offensive armament, we have the AMX International to offer, The AMX International is a Ground Attack Aircraft that may serve the Portuguese Air Force well. the second aircraft we have to offer is the Embraer EMB-312 "Tucano", which is a Light Attack Aircraft that can serve both as a trainer and as a scouting aircraft."

"The AMX International would be a fine addition to the Portuguese Air Force. If you can arrange the official licensing for both the AMX and the Astros II, we'll arrange for your licensing of the vessels that you have took interest in. I would like to ask if there's a price involved? If there is none, we can simply exchange licensing for the four products. Thank you Don Peixoto, for helping Portugal pursue its defensive efforts.

In regards to future equipment, would you like to take an interest in joint projects? Portugal is more than capable in developing weapon technology, such as weapon systems and equipment. I can order my assistant to send you drafts of equipment that both Portugal and Brazil might take an interest in."

"I believe we can agree to the exchange of licenses. it is my pleasure, We are doing our part in assisting our lusophone brothers.

Interesting proposal, Brazil is currently working extensively in Research and Development of new equipment, if Portugal was to be interested, I could send drafts of some of the equipment in the plans too.

But I'm interested to see what equipment you have in mind."

"Drafts have been drawn up to develop small-arms equipment, as a foundation for future 'big' projects. Targeting systems, RADAR, firearms, cannons, and engines to name a few. While research hasn't officially started yet, again, we may be able to share and declassify our draft progress with you if Brazil truly wishes to know. I do recommend we exchange these research drafts at the upcoming LOFS summit there in Brasilia?"

Almeida would sit down on his desk, shuffle a few papers around as he is speaking. He takes a warm cup of coffee near him, as he watches the events of the exercise unfold in the large projection screen in front of him.

"For now however, the assembly has given me the permission to disclose our first project, although I cannot see what this might be of any interest to Brazil. It's the HMCT-95 Lusitano, an all around utility truck based on designs from the Americans and the Russians. Phase I would end in about 2 weeks from now, and Phase II, where we would develop the final product, would begin."

"Other than what we have discussed at the moment, is there anything else you might want to add?"
