President Victor Romero announced at a press conference today the passing in the Brazilian Legislature of Legislative Act - 0420 - that will legalize the sale, production and use of marijuana in all Brazilian states. The law will go into affect on October 20th, six months from now. Private Companies will be able to apply for licences to produce and sell Marijuana once they pass strict guidelines governed by the new Cannabis Regulation Board headed by Señor Gutierre Blanco, whom he introduced at the press conference and let him address the press corps.
"With the passing of this legislation, the total impact for Brazil's economy from a legal weed market — including growing and distribution, pot paraphernalia, increased tourism and business taxes — would amount to between $50 billion to $100 billion annually. Not to mention an increase in new jobs about 250 to 300 thousand, from harvesters, budtenders, vape makers, paper makers, delivery people, security guards, and cashiers. The impact on society will be stunning."
