The Minister of National Defence, Harjit Sajjan, would ring his German counterpart.

Dennis Gottschalk Would be sat at his desk, his phone would start ringing. He’d look down to the caller number and would notice it is a Canadian number “Oh god” he’d pause clearing his throat before answering the phone “Federal Minister of Defence Gottschalk speaking, how can I be of assistance?”. The German line would be encrypted and secured

"Mr. Gottschalk, lovely to hear from you. I have to compliment the German Defence Industry, you maintain a rigorous standard and foothold on your.... products. The Canadian Armed Forces is certainly interested in acquiring a range of German equipment for our forces as we believe it matches our standards. Both of our countries have similar geography in terms of endless forests, waters which can get pretty frozen in the winter, etc etc. We would like to acquire three Berlin-Class Replenishment Ships to replace our ageing Protecteur-class, as we believe this ship best matches our needs. We would also like to have a guarantee on a future purchase of 120 Leopard 2 tanks."

“The Berlin class is a formidable vessel. I can understand why you would want to purchase it.” He’d pause typing away at his computer before continuing to speak “We can definitely sell the Berlin class for a price of $578,500,000.00 plus 25% VAT per unit. It’s good to hear you wish to purchase the Leopard 2, we will be willing to sell the 2A2 Variant for a price of $2,954,000.00 plus 25% VAT”

"Very well then, what's the total for the three Berlin class?"

 

[JamieA]

“Total is $2,169,375,000.00 including VAT”

 

[Owen]

"The money will be transferred momentarily."

 

[JamieA]

"Is there anything else I can help you with?"

The Minister would hang up.
