"Good morning and welcome to channel 1 News" A presenter reads into the autocue sat at a desk "Police have confirmed they have shot and killed a suspect likely involved in violent crime in Denmark. The 30 year old man, locally named as Aadil al-Sattar, died shortly after arrival at hospital. Police say the man was a senior figure in a organised crime group, while family say he was a devoted father with no links whatsoever with gangs. Our reporter spoke to the family as they arrived at the scene of the shooting"
The footage switches to a elderly man and woman, in tears as they visit the crime scene. In the background many of the family can be seen. The family spokesman reads out a prepared statement.
"Aadil was a kind and caring man who would never want to cause harm to anyone. He had no enemies and was a pillar of the society. We fundamentally reject the claims by police that Aadil was involved in any form of drive by shooting and believe the police acted on bad intelligence, Aadils only crime was not to be white. We want the officer involved to be suspended until a official investigation can be launched. We ask the Danish Prime Minister to intervene in the matter, this was an unlawful death. Please can the families privacy be respected and maintained, we will not be issuing a further statement until we have more to share. We ask all our supporters to join us in Copenhagen city centre for a vigil for Aadil. "
The man's mother would break down crying, speaking in fractured English "Aadil was a good boy! A good boy!"
The feed cuts to the police interview given at the scene by Chefpolitiinspektør;
"Last night during a raid to arrest a leading member of an organised crime group involved in a recent drive by shooting, a officer discharged their weapon. One shot was fired hitting the suspect who had charged at her with his hands in his pockets. A small knife was recovered from the person. We believe this shooting to be lawful as the officers shouted many warnings at the non compliant suspect. My thoughts are with the family at this tough time. Our officer continues in their frontline duty as we do not believe this shooting to be suspicious. Specialist training officers have been offered in support of the family, but have been refused. We will not be taking questions at this point of time"
