Dear President of the French Republic, François Mitterrand,

As you may now be aware, I have recently begun my official term in office as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. With this in mind, I am seeking to open initial discussions with yourself to get an understanding of the relationship, or potential relationship between the UK and the French Republic. Given our close proximity, I seek nothing less than a close friendship that would see France and Britain work together closely, invest in trade together and embark on a long-term plan for us to work together moving forward.

Therefore, I would like to invite you to London under the guise of a State Visit. Security and Accomodation will be provided, or, if you would prefer, I would be happy to arrange a video call if this would be more ideal and suited for you.

Kind Regards,
AEvans

At Charles de Gaulle Airport, President Francois Mitterrand and his coterie of eight bodyguards and two assistants board an Airbus A340-300 with the desitination being London, England.

The bodyguards will all be wearing bulletproof vests and wireless earpieces and wrist-held mics to communicate with one another in case of an emergency. They will also all be carrying USP40's and two extra clips each. President Mitterrand's assistants will each be carrying laptops that are encrypted.

At CDG, four Mirage 2000-D's take off with Airbus and will escort it until it reaches British airspace.

Once the Airbus reaches British airspace the plot declares the flight number and the four Mirages break off.

"Tower. This is Air France Flight A-Zero-Six-Nine. Request Permission to land at Heathrow."

(Sorry for delay. As you know, Hollie has been in hospital)

Upon entering British Airspace, control of the aircraft fell onto Air Traffic Controllers who provided sufficient instruction on how the Airbus A340-300 would enter Heathrow:

"Air France Flight A-Zero-Six-Niner, Runway Two-Seven Left Cleared to Land, Vacate Runway Right onto Taxiway November-Six, Taxi to Terminal 5C VIA Echo-One, Delta-One, Charlie-One, Taxiway C."

As procedure, a read-back was required for all data to be accurate. Once received, the aircraft could enter it's course and land at the designated runway before making to the assigned terminal where British Diplomatic Protection Officers waited with a convoy to transport the French Representatives.

"Copy. Air France Flight A-Zero-Six-Niner, Runway Two-Seven Left Cleared to Land. Will Vacate Runway Right onto Taxiway November-Six, and taxi to Terminal 5C VIA Echo-One, Delta-One, Charlie-One, Taxiway C. We are preparing to land."

After touchdown, the President and his entourage gather their things, deplane and wait for the arrival of the British Diplomatic Protection Officers.

Following the touchdown of the aircraft and it safely navigating to its assigned hangar, two separate teams of Diplomatic Protection Officers waited for the French President and his aides to exit. The head of the Security approached him to greet him and provide instruction that they would be escorting the President to 10 Downing Street. There, he'd meet the newly elected British Prime Minister. After a short safety briefing, the French Delegation were invited to the rented vehicles used for the escort and the journey to Downing Street begun. Along the way, the combined British and French Flags plastered the streets, with crowds on the sideline. A warm welcome to say the least. The trip itself was roughly under an hour, taking traffic into consideration. Upon arrival, Prime Minister Evans waited at the door to Downing St. Ready to greet his French counterpart as the door opened and News Teams taking the opportunity for videos and photos.

President Mitterrand would wave enthusiastically to the onlookers on the street through the window, marveling at the French flags. His security guards. although tense, would secretly smile to themselves seeing the Tri-Color all around London.

At 10 Downing Street President Mitterrand would extend his hand out to PM Evans, and say in somewhat accented French-English, loud enough for reporters to hear.

"It is good to finally meet you."

Then he would lean into the PM's ear and mumble something. He was not sure if the PM heard him or not.

He would then turn back to the cameras and smile and wave, waiting to be escorted into the PM's office.

The British Prime Minister eagerly shook the French Presidents hand "An absolute pleasure to meet you, and welcome you to London." he smiled, the pair getting plenty of photos taken by the press that were swooning around the event. Due to the crowds and noises, he hadn't heard what was said but it was only a few minutes later where the British Prime Minister escorted the French President into the building, the pair going into a private office and provided a seat each. "Please, take a seat." the Prime Minister spoke, sitting down. "Would you like a drink?" he then posed to ask as a member of his staff waited to find out what drinks the two required.

"A whiskey and water, if you will, please."

After the waiter had left President Mitterrand would continue.

"Thank you giving us a secure room in which to speak frankly with one another. As I want you to appreciate how vital this initial meeting between us is. As I predict some quite profound changes in France in the coming months."

Unexpecting a request for Whiskey, one of the members of Staff for Downing Street was quick to go to a nearby supply to collect some. Returning with a glass of water and whiskey after a short period of time. "Of course, we'd always maximize as privacy. You know yourself what the press is like." smiled the British Prime Minister. "I think the meeting is vital in more ways than one, but a potential friendship between the United Kingdom would be a great benefit for both of us and even look into further cooperation in other areas. May I inquire as to these profound changes you mention?"

"Well, with the election season starting tomorrow and the parties announce their candidates, I will not be representing the Social Party. After fourteen years in office, and all of the chaos in Europe the last several years, at my age and with my health weakening, I feel I am not up to the job. I felt I owed it to tell you in person. I hope, whomever win Frances election in April, you will be able to work wit them to bring stability to Europe. Lords knows it sorely needs it."

There was a short moment of surprise, unexpected to hear of the revelation. The British Prime Minister nodded. "I must admit, it was unexpected but you have definitely done well for representing your country. I'm sure it's a well-deserved break." he smiled. "But yes, I hope to continue to work with the French Government regardless of who enters office next. In the meantime, there is one topic I'd hope to discuss with yourself and that is the Eurotunnel, and whether France is committed to working with UK authorities to maximize security efforts for those at each side of the tunnel. Is this something you're committed to helping protect?"

"Yes, by all means. I do believe passport checks are made at the Eurostar and there are juxtaposed controls for shuttle road-vehicle trains. If there is something else you wish France to do, please just ask.

If we could switch gears now I would like to talk dome business ventures we have in mind. First we would like to import machinery, precious metals and organic chemicals into France at the Port of Marseille.

From your Exports registry it seems you would benefit from French computers, electronic machinery and plastics. Three mutual trade routes would be a good start.

We would also like to see tourism boosted between our countries. Perhaps we could open more air routes to different cities and as well as cruise ships.

A French company produces one the most modern vessels in the world with the Horizon Class. The President pulls a file from his briefcase and hands it to the Prime Minister."

Horizon Class Cruise Ship
CDF Croisières de France

They go for $750,000,000 a piece and perhaps we could open up some trade routes, especially to the French Riviera. If we go half on the prices we could purchase more between us and increase tourist revenue. We are interested in purchasing four and see how the venture goes from there."

"That sounds perfect, it's reassuring to hear of your continued commitment to the security of the Eurotunnel. No doubt that is a joint project that permits cooperation between the United Kingdom and France." the Prime Minister paused, nodding. "I was hoping to get to discuss trade and would definitely love to open an agreement.
Ideally, we would actually like to receive the plastics and Electronic Machinery you mentioned, but also Pharmaceuticals if that's on offer. We'd like to receive :

Plastics every day, from France to Portsmouth in the United Kingdom.
Pharmaceuticals, daily, to Portsmouth.
And finally, Electronic Machinery weekly; also to Portsmouth.

If you'd like to confirm how often you'd like us to deliver your goods and where too?
We are in need to purchase further merchant vessels so there may be a temporary delay on our side to formalize it."

The Prime Minister stopped talking whilst he reviewed the Cruise Ship Notes...

...

...

...

"Whilst I like the idea, I'm concerned as to an initial purchase of 4. That would be hitting 3 billion dollars. My concern is if there were any issues. We would be happy to pay half for one initially, and then see how tourism increases and maybe expand from there if this is viable for yourself?"

"Yes, of course. Better to start with smaller numbers first. And, yes we can accommodate all of your needs to Portsmouth. As far as France, we would like to import machinery, precious metals and organic chemicals into France at the Port of Marseille on a weekly basis.

And, yes. We are busy ourselves with constructing our own container ships, which I see your government has looked into. We thank you kindly for this. France expects to be knee-deep into exporting both our products and our ships that can deliver them."

"Perfect, so if you're in agreement, we could send you our share of the Horizon Class Cruiseship which would be .... 375,000,000.00. Then you could produce it and we'll aim to work on tourism between the UK and France.
We will arrange for our trade to deliver Machinery, Precious Metals and Organic Chemicals to Marseille. We should have this kind of availability within the next couple of days to begin our side of the agreement. It's a genuine pleasure to begin doing business with yourself, especially regarding tourism.
Is there any other agenda's you'd like the discuss in the meantime?"

"That would be great. I am quite interested in seeing where the new service between our two countries goes. Tourism should be a big part our our GDP's. I will make sure that production of the Horizon Class ship commences as soon as I get back to France.

The one other thing for us down the road for us is perhaps joint military exercises. With much of the recent tumult in Europe we should be prepared for events that may effect both of our nations. Do you agree?"
