The International Court investigates and, where warranted, tries individuals charged with the gravest crimes of concern to the international community: genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression. The Court aims to hold those responsible accountable for their crimes and to help prevent these crimes from happening again. It's composed of three (3) Justices, two of which are elected for terms of office for two years by the Global Assembly. It's official languages are English and Dutch. The ICJ has two roles: deciding cases of international law between separate countries and it issues advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by the Global Assembly.
