The Lipka Tatars

"On the 12th of September at approximately 6pm King Jan Sobieski, commander of the joint forces of the Commonwealth of Poland and Lithuania and the Holy Roman Empire, ordered the largest cavalry charge in history. 18,000 horsemen descended upon the Ottoman's outside of city of Vienna. Less the three hours after the order for the charge to begin the Hussars with their Holy Roman allies swept the Ottomans off of the battlefield and captured the headquarters of Kara Mustafa. It is a known fact that Poland had its own Muslim Tatars within their own army who fought fought valiantly for their Polish King. Which has extended to modern days. A lesser known fact that Jan Sobieski III was saved by a Polish Tatar on that fateful campaign. Tatar Colonel Samuel Mirza Krzeczowski saved the Polish king during the Battle of Parkany after a failed probing cavalry charge against the elite Turkish Cavalry. It is with this fact in mind that I am grateful to add his name to the list of men who have received the Order of the White Eagle. Though it is posthumous, I am pleased to present this award to his descendants who still live within Poland in the village of Kruszyniany. "

The King would produce a black, leather box bearing the Order of the White Eagle embossed on the leather to an elderly man who still bore the ethnic signs of a Turkish man.

"The second reason for this press conference would be to unveil two new additions to the Historic Monuments of Poland for reasons of cultural heritage and cultural unity. With the induction of Samuel Mirza Krzeczowski to the Order of the White Eagle is a great way to reduce the marginalization of the Muslim minority within Poland, I would also take steps to insure that Muslims know that while Poland is predominately Catholic, we have a long, storied history of allowing Freedom of Religion amongst our people. With tensions heightening in the Middle East between Religions and Ethnicities, Poland wishes to continue its staunch support of the civilians of the world and its championing of Human Rights. It is why I am inducting the Villages of Kruszyniany and Bohoniki to the list for Historic Monuments of Poland for the cultural heritage that bring, housing the two oldest mosques and Muslim populations within Poland. This started when Jan Sobieski granted the villages to the Liptic Tatars after faithful service during the Turkish wars. We wish to continue this tradition by permanently protecting these historic monuments and to insure their safety for the next millennia."

"The final matter of the press conference is to announce the formation of the Muslim-Tatar Platoon within the recently formed King's Hussars, the military unit designed to function much like the Queen's Guards of the United Kingdom. This platoon will be staffed entirely of Muslims and Tatars of Poland. Despite the extreme requirements for joining the King's Hussars, we feel the Muslims and Tatars who serve Poland within her Armed Forces are more than capable of finishing the training and taking their place along side Colonel Samuel Mirza Krzeczowski as protectors of the Crown."

"In the small village of Krynicki on the 21st of May 1895, Epifaniy Dravnyak, also known as Nikifor Krynicki, faced untold hardship. Living in extreme poverty and often facing ridicule for the belief of intellectual disabilities, Nikifor set about to change the world of art without realizing it. Nearly illiterate and unable to communicate intelligibly, Nikifor would utilize art as his method of communication, painting around his home of Krynicki until he was deported by the Communist leadership in 1947. During the 1930's, Epifaniy received some fame for the works of art purchased by the impressionist painter Józef Pankiewicz. However, this fame did not last and his art continued to be underappreciated within his home country of Poland. As a member of the ethnic Lemko people of Poland, Nikifor found himself uprooted from his home and sent to the northwestern border of Poland. His steel resolved showed itself during this time as he attempted three times to return home to Krynicki until he was allowed to return to his ancestral home on the third attempt. By 1960, Epifaniy was an elderly man who required medical assistance to continue to live outside of a medical establishment and that was when he met the intrepid Marian Włosiński, another painter living in Krynicki. Marian decided to devote his career and life to promote Epifaniy's works throughout Poland and the world. It wasn't long before the man's works were showed in the greatest galleries in Poland and he finally received the fame he deserved, much earlier than many like him who received posthumous fame. Unfortunately, during his bout of illnesses towards the end of his life, many of Epifaniy's paintings were destroyed do to the threat of tuberculosis. Epifaniy passed away on the 10th of October 1968 after a long term battle of illness in a nursing home located in the village of Folusz. From there his body was returned to Krynicki and, thanks to Marian Wlosinski, his works are continuously viewed by the public and professional artists worldwide. For his indomitable will and his life devoted to art, it is my honor to induct Epifaniy Dravnyak into the Order of the White Eagle with honors, lest his name be forgotten to the annals of history."
