An assistant from the ministry of Foreign Affairs called the ambassador the 18th to let him know a car would pick him up at 10 AM on the 19th of December to bring him to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

After departing from the embassy at 10 AM, the ambassador would arrive at the the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at 10:15 AM where he would be awaited by Minister Lamberto Dini outside. He greeted the ambassador and walked inside with him. "It's a pleasure getting to speak with you ambassador, I hope we will have a good conversation."

"Thank you for meeting with me on such short notice. How was your trip?"

The ambassador would follow Minister Dini.

"I have much to discuss to cover trade, foreign relations, external affairs, and more. If we run out of time, perhaps I can come back or we can continue over email."

"It was very nice and productive so that's always good, thanks for asking."

As they entered the office he offered the ambassador a seat in front of his large wooden desk. "Can I offer you a drink?" He already pressed a button on his phone which connected him with one of his assistants and ordered an espresso for himself, he would await the Indian's order and make it known to the assistant who would bring it as soon as possible.

"I'm very excited to hear what you have to say, and where India is coming from regarding these topics."

"Just a water please" He would say.

"I feel was should start off with trade negotiations. India offers many goods such as: Coal, Pharmaceutical Products, Petroleum and Petroleum Products, and Diamonds. India also has Rare Earth Elements, however due to short supply India is not currently exporting any until this upcoming summer. I have reviewed what Italy exports and I believe with the exception of Pharmaceuticals, India would like to acquire the rest of the Italian exports. Many propose resource for resource trading instead of using tariffs. Is this something that Italy is open to?"

As the Indian finished his opening statement about trade the Italian took notes and the assistant knocked and walked inside with the water and coffee before leaving again.

"Resource for resource trading is definitely something Italy is open to, but this is of course dependant on the value of the goods being exchanged as it will need to be a fair trade deal. I know that our jewellery industry is in heavy demand for a diamond supplier so that is definitely something we'd want to include. We would also be interested in importing coal for our energy needs, but I believe that would be all from our side. I'm not fully aware of the commercial export prices of all these products but depending on those details we would have to determine what to do with the remaining tariffs -if there are any."

"For Diamonds and Coal it would be a combined total of $4,000,000 for the tariffs. However with the resource for resource trade based on tariffs we are interested in Industrial Machinery at $5,000,000. While this is an extra $1,000,000; India is prepared to offer an extra shipment of coal in exchange. Is this something Italy would be interested in?" he would say.

The minister took some notes before responding. "I believe this would be a fair trade, and I could arrange a tariff waiver for these goods so we can freely exchange them. On what sort of basis would you like to exchange these goods? Italy is open to anything from weekly to monthly. Since we're already talking details, on our side the Port of Gioia Tauro will be used for the shipments, to and from which Indian port will the exchange take place?"

"Due to the Port of Mumbai being closed, I feel it would be best to send and receive shipments to the Port of Chennai. Weekly shipments would be preferred, as we have a large consumer market. If a Tariff waiver could be obtained, it would be very much apricated. Is there anything else you wish to discuss?"
