MISSION BRIEFING

The goal of this mission is to teach the skills necessary to maintain military equipment, ships, helicopters, planes, etc. In good working condition, especially in the field. This training will teach the basics of mechanical maintenance and repair to these personnel.

LOGISTICS
Personnel would be provided adequate shelter, food, and supplies to continue with the training. Civilian medical and support personnel would be on hand to attend to any needs that the medics need while training.

Training Phase I: Mechanics 101

In this phase all personnel would be given textbooks on the basics of mechanics: everything from what tools are which, to hardware, to lubrications, to the functions of different mechanical parts. This phase would be primarily introductory with the personnel required to learn and master Thisbe basic information before moving on. The training would take place at Camp Asaka in the repair bays and so any question a soldier had about a part or tool could be addressed right then with the actual thing in question. At the conclusion of this phase, personnel would be given a test to determine their mastery of the basics.

Phase 2: Tool Competency

This phase would teach and test the mechanics competency with a variety of tools that they would need to perform their jobs. Having now had the chance to read the training manuals, the soldiers would be presented with a series of screws, bolts, parts, and machines. The trainers would ask what tool would be required and the soldiers would answer. After answering, the soldiers would have the opportunity to perform a single discrete task with the tool under the observation of the trainers. The trainers could observe the soldier’s technique with the tools to ensure that the soldiers were using the tool correctly. This process would be repeated numerous times, covering a wide array of tools.

Phase 3: Engine Examination

This phase focused on having knowledge of a variety of engines, learned from reading technical manuals. The soldiers would read a technical manual on a specific engine, then be required to take the engine apart and put it back together. The goal was not to teach every mechanic how every engine worked, rather, it seeks to tech them how to become familiar with a mechanical part by reading the manual to become familiar with it.

The mechanics were handed basic civilian six cylinder engines, then larger APC engines, then a Tank engine, then as a group a plane jet engine, and finally a part of a naval engine.
