Korean Aid
Security Classification: SECRET
In light of the unification between the North and South, the Royal Air Force has taken interest in the latest news reports from Korean Broadcasting in relation to the delivering of supplies to the North among other operations taking place as a result of the unification. To show their support, the chief of the Royal Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Richard Johns had opened discussion with the Ministry of Defence about potential support to the Koreans. Upon receiving approval, an email was sent to the Korean Government:-
"Addressed to the Republic of Korea,
I am contacting you on behalf of Her Majesty's Government in relation to the unification of Korea and to offer our support through logistical means. Taking note of recent broadcasts submitted by the Korean Broadcasting System, the United Kingdom would like to donate supplies that consists of but is not limited to food; water and medical supplies to support and ease the burden of such a huge political shift that you are facing. To confirm the finer details, This would consist of the deployment of two RAF C-17 Globemasters to carry supplies funded by the United Kingdom to Korea in good faith. We have received confirmation for funding that would permit two shipments a week for two months which I believe will support your government through this transition.
If this is something you approve of receiving, we will be able to begin the organisation to begin the movement of supplies by mid August.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Kind Regards,
Richard Johns
Air Chief Marshal, RAF"
