The State President of the Republic of South Africa would send a letter to the Secretary General of the Global Assembly.
"Dear Mr. Secretary General,
We are aware of your current debate regarding Antarctica. South Africa is an adjacent nation to Antarctica and has long had a research and scientific interest in the continent. We have had no previous claims as the previous United Nations shunned us from the Antarctic Treaty for our "Apartheid" policies. We refuse to join the Global Assembly because of this legacy of those bodies dictating to us what the contents of our political program and internal affairs should be. I'm sorry to say but South Africa is here to stay as a white-led nation, with black homelands set up to allow tribal groups to have self-determination. It would be best to allow us in on these discussions as we will certainly not shy away from the Antarctic continent in the future and we continue to have a presence on the Prince Edward Islands.
Sincerely,
Pieter Willem Botha,
State President of the Republic."
