El Universal was founded by Félix Palavicini and Emilio Rabasa in October 1916, in the city of Santiago de Queretaro to cover the end of the Mexican Revolution and the creation of the new Mexican Constitution. The circulation of the print edition of El Universal is more than 300,000 readers.

NEW PRESIDENT RISES TO POWER

taliana_vargas.jpg

Above: The new President

The Partido de la Revolución Democrática has won power in the local elections, as the Party head Cristina Vargas has risen to power as the President with her Deputy Isabella Umaña becoming the Prime Minister. The Partido Acción Nacional lost in a landslide as Vargas and co rose to power. Cristina Vargas has a massive history in politics, graduating from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Business. Previously she was the mayor of Guadalajara before she rose to being involved in Congress.

Below is the extract from her speech at her inauguaration which has been translated from Spanish:

"Good afternoon, I cannot say for words of how proud I am here to stand today. It is a monumental day for us here in Mexico as I am proud to stand as your President. To begin with the promises. For years Mexico has been involved with the three main things. Corruption. Money. Power. These main three have corrupted Mexico for years which leave us with Death. Destruction & Devastation. Well no more! It is time for those who wish us nothing but harm to pay. It is time for those who dare stand against those who threaten our way of life. It is time for you to have a say. Long Live Mexico."

LARGE CORRUPTION ARRESTS MADE THIS MORNING

mexico_48a_by_hen_jak-d6bld7o.jpg

Above: Two Mexican Police Officers stand next to Senator Guerrero for Yucatan as she is showcased to the media, evidence has linked her to the brutal Los Zetas Cartel.

This morning saw one of the largest operations that unexpectedly came through across Mexico. Mexican Armed Forces alongside members of the Federal Police raided over seventy properties across Mexico. The Attorney General stated the following in a statement

"This morning saw one of the largest Operations on Mexican soil. The operation code-named Athena focused on corruption in the Government, Armed Forces, Police & elsewhere. Armed Forces & Law Enforcement who were highly trusted enough co-ordinated raids on the targets in which had led to arrest of over 60 people. They have been linked to cartels that have plagued our country for years now. The crimes link from the worst which is murder to kidnapping to drug trafficking to fraud and much more. Those who are of high profile among the arrested, I will name some. Senator Ortega for Merida he has been linked with three murders and drug trafficking on behalf of the Sinaloa Cartel. Senator Guerrero for Yucatan has been linked to the brutal Los Zetas Cartel who have been involved murders & drug trafficking. Their is evidence of her taking money from the Cartel and actively using her power as a Senator with drug trafficking. Next on the list in Senator Aguirre for Jalisco has been linked to several fraud offences. The Mayors of Michocan and Chaiapas have been linked with drug trafficking and have been taking money from the Cartels that operate in the area. That is the many that have been arrested during the operation today. I would like to state this is more of a point to prove to those who threat our way of life. We will stop you at all costs.

It all began as Australian Police Officials sent a notice to all embassies and consulates in Australia in regards to surrendering firearms. Majority of the countries reacted with backlash as Australian Federal Police were currently breaking General Assembly Laws and the Vienna Convention 1961 according to the countries. A confrontation further on in the morning later kicked off between the Polish Embassy and Australian Police as Officers began to surround Polish officials who were armed with firearms. As more Officers reportedly arrived, Polish officials reportedly retreated in the embassy and according to a press release Australian Police stated Polish officials fired upon officers first in which Police retaliated with a shootout.

Australian Police further reported that the Polish Ambassador was injured in the shootout which has left unknown amount of casualties. As a result, many countries have heavily criticized the acts of the Australian Police and the Government who ignored what the Police are doing. So far, sanctions have been put in place by Argentina.
