Minister Solberg,

I have been asked by the Prime Minister to prepare for a deployment to Norway. However, before such a deployment can take place I require some information, as I am required to inform parliament of any operational deployments by the armed forces. As soon as possible, could you inform me of the following details:
- Norwegian Commanders and Leaders involved in the operation;
- Operation Staging Areas within Norway (Airports);
- Operational objectives;
- Will the Royal Norwgian Air Force be able to provide technicians to maintain the aircraft for the duration of the operation.

Yours Sincerely,

Max Holst
Minister of Defence

KINGDOM OF NORWAY
MINISTRY OF DEFENSE
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
SUBJECT: Operation Aurora
RECIPIENT: Max Holst, Minister of Defense of The Kingdom of The Netherlands (@Dutchy )
SECURITY: ENCRYPTED AND TOP SECRET

Minister Holst,

Please send Norway's regards to the Minister-President. Here is the information that you requested:

1. General Dan Jasper, General of the Royal Norwegian Air Force, will be personally overseeing this operation from the Norwegian side.
Kristoffer Solberg, Minister of Defense, (myself) will relay any issues from General Jasper to you if they should arise.

2.
Orland Main Air Station will serve as the staging area for the Dutch jets and pilots that are sent here.

3. Operational Objectives: To intercept aircraft in Norwegian airspace that are distressed or hostile to Norway; To perform occasional patrols in Norwegian airspace as needed; To scramble and standby if a general alert is issued to His Majesty's Armed Forces.

In reality, these pilots and aircraft will likely see little to no action, which is why we would be happy to allow them to train or run drills in whatever capacity they choose, short of live-fire exercises of course. If these pilots and their aircraft do have to expend any munitions or burn a significant amount of fuel, the Norwegian government will of course compensate The Netherlands.

4. The Norwegian Air Force is presently unable to provide technicians to maintain Dutch aircraft, but we will be happy to host and provide housing for Dutch technicians, as well as the pilots, free of charge at Orland Main Air Station.

Minister Holst, please inform me if you have any additional questions. While not necessary, I'd be happy to give you some background information on why this situation has arisen. More recent Norwegian governments have seen the downturn of the Cold War, and decided that it was not necessary for us to maintain a robust military. Now we've recently seen a return to communism, and uncooperative rhetoric, from the Soviet Union and communist Ukraine. Norway shares a border with Russia. The new Conservative government, which I am a party of, has made it a priority to reinvigorate the Armed Forces. An exceptionally heavy focus is being put on the Royal Navy, with a lesser-emphasis being put on the Army, while the Royal Air Force is temporarily on the back burner. Norway is a small country, but we must maintain armed forces and weapons of high quality, since we are unable of having a large quantity. We are limited by our finances, and do not wish to go into debt (we are Conservatives, after all). That being said, it is embarrassing that Norway cannot presently deploy even one offensive-aircraft. The public - and our enemies - are not fully aware that we have a near-zero ability to project force from the air or even defend ourselves, but they know our capacity is very limited... If it's necessary for this to be made public in some way, I hope that it can be made to look as more of a joint-training program.

Best Regards,

Kristoffer Solberg
Minister of Defense

Minister Solberg,

Thank you for your response, I'll prepare an operational directive and have it sent to your Ministry once its been written. We will be sending technicians assigned to the 121st Squadron along with the aircraft and pilots to ensure their operational integrity. While I am required to inform parliament, it will merely inform parliament of the deployment and will avoid publishing harmful information.

Yours Sincerely,

Max Holst
Minister of Defence
