Minister Solberg,

I'm contacting you to discuss the operational details of your request for Dutch assistance to transport your forces to the Iraq Area of Operations. We have expanded our fleet with the addition of a second Rotterdam-class Landing Platform Dock which can hopefully support this mission and ensure a quicker deployment to the Region.

Furthermore we are interested in expanding the air defence capabilities of the Netherlands and hope to be able to negotiate the purchase of 12 NASAMS air-defence system.

Mister Secretary,

The Ministry of War has found alternative methods to transport our troops and supplies to the Middle East. I appreciate that the Kingdom of The Netherlands is still willing to help, however. It is greatly appreciated.

The Ministry of War, and its contractors, have so far declined to sell NASAMS to any country outside of Scandinavia. It is a powerful defensive weapon which would wouldn't want to see ending up in the wrong hands, or in the hands of a country we do not intend for it to. If we did decide to sell this item to The Netherlands, would you agree to to the following:
1. Our sale of NASAMS to The Netherlands, and the fact that The Netherlands owns and operates NASAMS, remains classified as a state secret.
2. The Netherlands will not sell, donate, lend, or loan these NASAMS units to any other country or entity.
3. The Netherlands will pay $50-million per unit.
