A follow-up encrypted message was sent from the Norwegian Foreign Ministry which informed the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Mister Vinter would arrive the following morning in Paris. If they found this acceptable, then Jakob boarded an aircraft and flew to meet with the French. Travelling with him were some diplomatic staff from the Foreign Ministry. Once at the airport, Jakob patiently waited to be met by French officials.

Jakob was younger than the other ministers in the government, he was just 28 years old. He had been the Ambassador to Canada, but was promoted to Foreign Minister after sneaking embassy, Norwegian citizens, and himself across the border to America while Canada was in the midst of a civil war. He was considered a hero and was exactly the star that the King and the Prime Minister needed. He remains a very influential and powerful person in his party in the Storting. That being said, he was an experienced diplomat and had wit. He was tall and blonde, which would occasionally lead to some people comparing him to King Enoch, however he was still shorter than the monarch who had yet to meet someone as tall as him. Jakob was known for being humble, but also for being informative and direct.

The Minister of European and Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Overseas France would be contacted about the Norwegian Minister arriving at the Paris Airport. A section of the Airport would be blocked off for the safety of the Norwegian diplomats and the plane would be able to land by itself. Armored vehicles would be waiting outside the airport to escort them to the government building and the Ministers along with armed guards would greet the Norwegian Minister upon his arrival.

"Welcome to Paris, Minister Vinter." Jean-Yves would begin.

"It's an honor to welcome you here." Annick would continue.

"If you'd follow us we'll be able to head to the government building and begin discussion of French overseas territories."

"It's very nice to meet both of you. Thank you for seeing me on such short notice." He would offer to shake their hands before following them to the vehicles to be transported to the government building. On the way, he would take in the sites of the city around him and make some small talk about some of the current events in Norway. This was indeed his first time to France, and he still had a pretty romanticized vision of the country.

"The short notice is no problem at all." Annick reassured as they arrived at the building.

The guards would escort them in and from there the Ministers would escort the Norwegian to the meeting room, where they would sit down and Annick would signal for drinks and snacks to be brought up.

"Now, Minister Vinter," Jean-Yves would begin, "Norway wanted to discuss French overseas territories? What was it exactly that required for a meeting in person?"

"We wanted to discuss that, as well as establishing more formal diplomatic relations between France and Norway, if possible. On the topic of overseas territories - I have been asked to see if your government has any interest in allowing Norway to purchases a few islands which are currently under French control. My government has a couple of potential places in mind, however before discussing those specifics, I suppose it would be better to know if your government would be willing to entertain a proposition like that?"

"Formal diplomatic relations between Norway and France are certainly possible." Jean-Yves stated as the two Ministers listened to the Norwegian's proposal.

"Well, I suppose anything is possible," spoke Minister Annick, "but then again, we would have to know which islands Norway wishes to purchase before we can decide whether or not France would be willing to sell them."

"The islands that we have in mind are the Îles des Saintes in the Caribbean. Those are the ones that we are looking at. Do you think that the French Republic would be open to this proposition?" Jakob took a sip from the water that he had requested. He had been working on his French for months now, but it still wasn't good enough to present in a diplomatic negotiation. Still, he could say some basic phrases and was eager to possibly visit a restaurant in Paris later.

The Foreign Minister and his staff left the meeting, returned to the airport, and flew back in the most direct possible way to Norway. With them were all the documents and personnel that came on the original trip to France. On his flight on the way back, the Foreign Minister was happy to hear that he was going to keep his seat in the State Council as Foreign Minister, despite the Conservative Party losing many seats. Once they were in the air, he called the Prime Minister to inform him that he and his team were returning back to Oslo and that the meeting had concluded.

Jean-Yves and Annick would be confused, but allow the Norwegian diplomat to leave.

Minister Vinter and his staff safely landed in Oslo without interruption. He headed to the Storting Building to meet with the Prime Minister in regard to some very important current events that had taken place while he was gone, namely those involving the People's Republic of China. It was now cool outside instead of cold, which was a big relief to everyone, including the Foreign Minister. When he made it to the Storting Building he politely asked a member of his staff to get him so scrambled eggs, he was starving for some reason.

A follow-up message was sent to the French. Minister Vinter apologized for his abrupt need to leave, however he stated it was due to "matters of national security." He said that in order to make it up to the French, His Majesty the King would like to host President Macron when things calm down in Paris and around France. The message said that Norway sees France as a potentially very valuable partner in the future and believes that a relationship between the two nations could be very beneficial. Along with the encrypted message later came a gift-basket of Norwegian treats and snacks.
