The Minister of Defense has ordered a "General Alert" for Norwegian armed forces which has put priority units on standby (i.e. the King's Guard Battlegroup, the Nordic Rangers, The Home Guard Rapid Reaction Forces). He has also ended shore-leave for all sailors of the following Royal Navy vessels:

The Minister of Defense also activated part of Norway's special forces: The Royal Air Force's Valkyries. The mission was to deploy the fleet to international waters off the coast of The Netherlands, integrate Dutch vessels into the fleet, sail to Gibraltar and refuel all three frigates, and then sail off the coast of Albania and begin a rescue mission for civilians and soldiers at the destroyed Norwegian embassy in Pristina, Kosovo, as well as recovering the body of the ambassador who was killed.

With all of the vessels currently in Oslofjord (and their associated sailors on shore leave in Oslo), it would be easier to coordinate their deployment. Food, ammunition, and the above mentioned supplies were loaded onto the appropriate vessels as sailors boarded and prepared for their deployments. Once all of the vessels were ready, they set sail as a group for Destination 1 and stay together as a group. All radar and sonar was active, and constantly looking for any threats. It would be aproximetly six hours until they reached their destination off the coast of The Netherlands to rendezvous with any Dutch ships joining the fleet.

With the release of the social media feed that the Norweigan Ambassador had been killed, the General Intelligence Directorate Team currently on site in Pristina, GID2, would immediately dispatch an element of 5 HUMINT Inspectors and a small platoon of two KLA volunteers to the site of the Norweigan Embassy in order to pick through the rubble. Despite their mission being secret ahead of Operation: Kosovar Freedom, the General Intelligence Directorate Team would assume that the time is far past that. After showing their identities to Norweigan soldiers, they would direct any wounded or injured to the multiple triage centers set up by the KLA around Pristina. Getting to work, the five GID Inspectors would begin to assist in the search for survivors around the embassy.

Meanwhile, the General Intelligence Directorate Team 2 back at headquarters would call upon the local KLA garrison to immediately begin sending Serbian prisoners to be interviewed by the GID.

After receiving the mission briefing from the Norwegian High Command, the details would be carefully reviewed by the Royal Netherlands Navy's Staff Command Naval Forces, it would be decided that the HNLMS Rotterdam was the most suitable vessel to participate in the Norwegian-led operation. Orders would be sent out, the captain and crew of the HNLMS Rotterdam to prepare for deployment, the ships would be restocked, refueled and rearmed with final checks by engineering teams. As the Norwegian Fleet neared the rallying point the HNLMS Rotterdam would set sail to meet them.

Captain Brecht Achterop would use an encrypted channel to radio the commanding officer of the mission on the Norwegian flagship, "Norwegian Fleet, this is the HNLMS Rottdam contacting you on channel 7, how copy over?"

Once a confirmation reply had been received the transmission would continue, "this is Captain Achterop of the HNLMS Rotterdam. We are prepared to take our position within the task force, how copy over."

If permitted into the fleet the HNLMS Rotterdam would take its position and fall under the command of the Norwegian commanding officers.

Captain Robin Schau, Royal Norwegian Army, and the other four soldiers had their guns drawn at first. If the Vietnamese officials identified themselves in English or Norwegian as Vietnamese, and that they were there to help, the Norwegian soldiers lowered their guns and lead them over to the building. "I'm Captain Schau, I'm currently the CO here... Our ambassador has been killed and we have casualties. I think we might have two civilians under the rubble over here, we could use some help getting them out. The Norwegian military is coming to help us. Can you give us any intel as to where those artillery pieces are, or any hardened Serbian military positions in Kosovo?"

"I'm sorry, sir." Inspector Giang, the General Intelligence Directorate leader would respond apologetically. "I cannot answer that. We are on the outskirts on the city and merely saw the artillery strikes. We do not know their location nor am I allowed to speak with you any more than I have to. What I can tell you, though, is that Serbia has committed to a full military retreat. We were merely dispatched here to help you and your contingent rescue any civilians that may be trapped. I presume that you won't tell anyone that we're here, eh?"

"Clear copy, Rotterdam. We read you. Captain Achterop, this is Vice Admiral Erik Blix, Norwegian Royal Navy, aboard the KMS Odin. You are permitted to enter our formation. Once you are in formation, we will start sending our Pave Hawk's and Valkyries over to you. We'll give you a heads up before the starts. Over and out," he said.

Once the Rotterdam was in formation, the 5 Pave Hawk helicopters with their pilots and all of the Valkyrie's with their equipment flew over to the Dutch ship in an ordered fashion. The Valkyries were in their combat uniforms, but the young women's long Nordic hair and fit bodies were hard to ignore. All that had to be done now was wait. The fleet continued on its trip to Gibraltar with all radar and sonar on alert. The journey would take about (22) hours.

"I understand," the Captain said, "thank you for that information. I don't think anyone needs to know that you're here," he concluded. The other men would help the Vietnamese dig and rescue civilians, or recover bodies, while Captain Schau went to his satellite phone and made an encrypted call to Akrshush Fortress. He informed the high command in Norwegian that he had reliable intelligence that most Serbian forces were currently engaged in a tactical retreat. Then, he hung up the phone to conserve battery-life, and went back to helping recover civilians. After this was concluded, the Norwegian soldiers thanked their Vietnamese counterparts. The soldiers explained that they would choose to stay at what remained of the embassy because they were waiting for a rescue from Norway. However, they would appreciate any food and water they could spare. The soldiers broke into vending machines in the embassy and started rationing food. They also set up a temporary perimeter around what remained of the compound.

The Norwegian fleet sailed past the British holding of Gibraltar and continued on their course to destination 3. They remained on alert, with all sonar and radar active. Radio communications were kept for a minimum. The route they were taking would bring them off the coast of Northern Africa, then between Sicily and Malta, and then finally to destination 3 - being careful to not intrude into anyone's territorial waters . Once they arrived at destination 3, they would not come to a standstill but would continue moving in a slower fashion except for the submarines which were taking up defensive positions within and around the fleet itself (underwater of course). Once they turned the boot of Italy, RAF Captain Mary Magnus privately addressed the other 29 Valkyries under her command and the 10 RAF pilots.

It was late at night. Most of the Valkyries were already wearing their tactical gear. Among them were young women from all across Norway, from Oslo to Tromso, and even one from Svalbard. Most of them were tall with blonde hair, and all of them were fit. Captain Magnus herself was a towering woman, and the oldest there, at 33 years old. They were aboard the Dutch ship HNLMS Rotterdam.

"As I'm sure most of you have figured out," she said, "our embassy in Kosovo was bombed a day ago, and the ambassador was killed. We are being sent on a rescue mission to retrieve the civilians, soldiers, and the ambassador's body which should number to be a bout 30 people. After we get them on board, we're flying back here to take them home to Norway. Our intel says that the Serbians have withdrawn their military, but Kosovo's capital has been severely damaged. We're going to treat this like hostile territory. They know that we're coming, so there shouldn't be surprised. Any questions?" she asked as she loaded her sidearm and holstered it. There wasn't any, so now they were ready to go.

At this time, they've just passed Gibraltar.

The Norwegian fleet has now arrived at Destination 3. It's approximately midnight. The RAF pilots and Valkyries boarded their respect helicopters as listed above. They departed the HNLMS Rotterdam with all of their weapons and equipment as described above, along with the full fuel capacity for the helicopters. They flew as close to the ground as they safely could in order to avoid radar detection. They would arrive at the ruined Norwegian embassy in one hour. While they had allocated an hour to be on the ground, Captain Magnus thought it would be preferable if they evacuated the civilians in 20 minutes instead. To do this, she made a secure call to the embassy's satphone and informed Army Captain Schau (the highest ranking military official at the embassy) that they would be there in one hour and five minutes. She told him that in exactly forty-five minutes, he and his men would need to pop blue flairs on top of the embassy building. Captain Schau agreed, and they terminated the call.

The helicopters proceeded to Pristina in the most direct (and of course safest) path possible. The Norwegian fleet remained in the same general position but was not at a full stop. The submarines below them were dispersed in a defensive formation within and outside of the fleet, and travelling at higher speeds so that they could intercept any threats.

Back in Oslo, a different operation was taking place by Kripos, Norway's national investigative and counter-intelligence service. The Minister of Justice ordered a number of high ranking agents to begin trying to contact living members Kosovo's government, or of their high command. Effectively, they were trying to get in touch with the highest ranking person possible. Everything from regular encrypted phone calls to secure satellite calls, electronic messages, and other formats were used to try to get in touch with someone that had authority in Kosovo. If they were asked why, they were told it was a matter of life and death. The man on the phone was Kripos Director Johan Berg. If someone with real authority (be it government or military) answered and could be verified, he would give the following message:

"Hello, I'm Johan Berg, I'm the Director of the Norwegian Intelligence Agency Kripos. I'm calling to inform you that Norwegian special forces are presently being deployed to Pristina to rescue Norwegian civilians who survived the attack that also damaged our embassy. The special forces are travelling in five helicopters and mean Kosovo and her people no harm. They will be in and out of Kosovo within three hours. I ask that you do not shoot down our special forces. Norway has condemned Serbia for this terrible attack on Pristina and the invasion of Kosovo, and we are on your side."

Director Berg waited for a response.

With the plethora of messages reaching the KLA, numerous cell leaders would forward the messages to the General Intelligence Directorate team serving as their advisers and survivors. Coincidentallyx they would be the only ones with a working long range radio device. A simple response on a radio would be given.

The argentine navy ship ARA Juan A. Martin, currently patrolling on international waters in the southern tip of the Adriatic Sea, near Albania, would detect the incoming fleet on its surface radars and, eventually, they would also being picking up the electromagnetic signals of the submarines accompaniyng them. Likewise, they would also be able to track the departure of helicopters eastwards.

The argentine frigate would notify all this information back to Alexandria on an encrypted and private line, including the report of 6 surface vessels and 6 submarines and the helicopter movements.

Due to the darkness, no direct visual identification was possible, therefore the Commander of the Frigate would order to establish radio contact with the unidentified fleet.

"Argentine Navy Vessel Juan A. Martin, this is Vice Admiral Erik Blix of the Royal Norwegian Navy aboard the KMS Odin. The Dutch vessel HNLMS Rotterdam is participating in an emergency humanitarian mission. We provided them an escort since we are in the area. Over and out," he replied on the proper channel in the proper fashion. The Argentine vessel would be able to detect the surface ships and possibly the submarines, however they would not be able to detect the launch of the helicopters since they wouldn't launch until the fleet was much further east and north than the Argentine vessel (~ 41.604861, 19.009465). The fleet would monitor the position of the Argentine ship as well as any other vessels and aircraft in the area. The fleet maintained radio silence.

As the helicopters approached the dark city of Pristina, they took the pre-planned flight path to the embassy. Soon, they saw the blue flairs on what remained of the roof. Two of the helicopters landed, but kept their blades running, while a third remained in the sky with their weapons ready. Captain Schau had organized the civilians into groups so that they could board the helicopters quickly. The first two helicopters were boarded within ten minutes. They took off again, and the third helicopter landed. Captain Schau lowered the Norwegian flag from the embassy, folded it, and rushed back to the third helicopter as the last of the civilians were loaded aboard. The ambassador's body, which was draped in blankets, was brought aboard and secured. Finally, the Army soldiers joined them. Each time the helicopters landed, the Valkyries deployed out in defensive positions. Some made a perimeter, while others directed civilians on what to do. Captain Magnus was on the ground the entire time of the operation. Finally, the third helicopter was loaded, and they took off. All three helicopters with all of the Norwegian civilians, soldiers, and the body of the ambassador were on board. They now made the most direct and safe path back to the HNLMS Rotterdam where they would safely land one at a time. Radio silence was maintained the entire time. As previously stated, the helicopters remained as low as they safely could to avoid radar detection.

"KMS Odin, KMS Odin, we have orders to remain in the area for patrolling duties. We have no intention to interfere with your operations. ARA Juan A. Martin. Over."

While awaiting a reply or new orders from the headquarters in Alexandria, the argentine navy ship would begin tracking all movements of the 6 surface ships and the submarines. They would make use of its SIGNT/ELINT equipment, should they ever move outside detection range of the other, medium ranged, radars.

They would follow the bulk of the fleet from afar without interfering with any operation, just observe and record. They would pay attention to remain on international waters.

The Vietnamese General Intelligence Directorate Team on the ground would immediately get to work preparing the street adjacent to the ruins of the embassy prepped for helicopter arrival. Making use of their KLA volunteers, the team would push large chunks of rubble to the sidewalk and kick smaller pieces off to the side so that the helicopters can safely land in the street.

The High Command in Oslo had a digital map in the war room that showed where the fleet was, where the helicopters had departed from, where the embassy was, and it had live markers to approximate where they were (or at least where they should be). It was a relief to everyone's ears when they heard over the radio, "Angel-Actual to Viking-Actual, we're all accounted for. Two minutes to you, over and out," Captain Magnus, leader of the Valkyries said.

The men in the war room bust into cheers while the officers above the destroyers cheered, and passed this information to the captain of the Rotterdam. As promised, the helicopters landed one at a time two minutes later. The Valkyries helped the civilians and soldiers out of the helicopters, which turned off their engines and were stored for travelling home. Many of the people had injuries ranging from mild to broken legs, arms, and concussions. They needed medical attention - hopefully the Dutchmen could oblige. Captain Schau saluted as the ambassador's body was taken off of one of the helicopters.

Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Blix made a secure and encrypted transmission to the Dutch captain. "Viking-Actual to Orange-Actual. All is secure, we'll send some with you back to port for refueling - don't take your time. Over and out." Room would be made for the Dutch ship to exit the formation. The KMS Fridtjof Nansen, KMS Roald Amundsen, KMS Oslo, and KMS Bergen all escorted the Rotterdam to Marseille Naval Base for refueling (the submarines were of course still operating below water). The Vice Admiral watched with his binoculars for the ships to break formation and depart. All deck lights were turned off on all of the ships after a clear path was made for the Dutch ship and other ships to exit, as to further obscure things. The three Norwegian destroyers came to an all stop.

The deck crew focussed on safety and efficiency as the prepared the helicopters for their mission, from within the ship the CIC tracked the aircraft via radar as they headed towards Kosovo. Orders would be sent down to the class II hospital to prepare for possible injured returning from the rescue mission.

As the aircraft returned the crew would safely guide them in and secure them to the deck before naval medical officers rushed forward to help with the disembarkation of the rescued Norwegians, those with injuries would be taken to the hospital while the others were taken to the warmth of the mess hall and given coffee, food and some good whiskey.

From the bridge the captain would respond on the encrypted line, "Viking-Actual, copy. Disengaging and leaving the AO." The HNLMS would break off from the formation and set a heading out of the Adriatic sea. The captain would open a encrypted ship-to-ship channel with all vessels of the task force, "All vessels, this is Orange-Actual. General Quarters! General Quarters! All hands to battle stations!" The alarm would sound through the Rotterdam as radar and sonar was set to active and all weapons stations were on full readiness.

The ship would set the course JN > JM > JN to Marseille Naval Base, being sure to remain in international waters.

The time was now approximately 2:30A.M. in both Oslo and Serbia. In Oslo, Prince Ingvar picked up the phone and made a secure call to his nephew who was in Washington D.C. It took less than a second for him to pick up on a secure line.

"Uncle, what's the status?" Enoch asked.
Ingvar answered, "King Enoch, the rescue mission was a total success. We have in place three fully armed destroyers. We now have the opportunity to issue a retaliatory strike on Serbia, or go home without doing so."
"Would it be on the artillery that struck our embassy?" Enoch questioned.
"We haven't been able to get reliable intelligence on the location of the artillery pieces, they may have fallen back into Serbia by now. Serbia has three airbases that we can strike, one of which must be the one where the bombing on Kosovo's parliament originated from. That is what we recommend... What is your decision?"

Enoch, who was standing next to Prime Minister Holt and President Obama thought for a couple of moments. He imagined the dead ambassador, the dead Norwegian civilians, and then he imagined the destruction of downtown Pristina and the thousands of people that had been murdered.

"General Ingvar, order the strike immediately... avoid civilian targets," Enoch decided.
"Yes, King Enoch," Prince Ingvar replied. He hung up the phone, securely relayed the orders to the Grand Admiral, who then securely relayed the order to Vice Admiral Blix.

"Valhalla to Viking-Actual... Clear to engage," Ingvar ordered.
"Copy that Valhalla. Over and out," the Vice Admiral replied. Blix looked to the Captain of the KMS Odin and said, "We're a go." This was securely transmitted to the other ships of the remaining fleet. Each one was ordered to general quarters. The decks of the destroyers were cleared, however.

Each of the three destroyers had a 48-cell K-VLS that was loaded with 48 Hyunmoo-3C missiles. All of the ships in the fleet now hard their lights off. The following took place (1) hour after the Dutch ship and other associated vessels departed from the main fleet.


The KMS Odin's target was Batajnica Air Base. Because it also served as a civilian airport, care was taken to not strike civilian terminals or facilities. However, all of the military structures in the East of the complex were targeted by the missiles, along with spots along the military airstrip where jets and other military craft would normally sit.
(40)All twenty of these military buildings had two missiles dedicated to them.
(8) The remaining 8 missiles targeted the military runway and taxiways so that if any jets did survive, it would be virtually impossible to launch them from the military runway or transport them to the civilian runway.

The KMS Thor targeted Lađevci airbase, which was the military half of Morava Airport. The military section of this base was the eastern half and was easy to differentiate.
(16) All 13 buildings in the military section were targeted by one missile, plus the hanger-like structure in the back which was targeted with three missiles instead of one.
(9) Nine of the remaining missiles targeted the visible cement slabs off the secondary taxiway that appeared to be designed to hold military aircraft, in case they were not in the hanger.
(10) 10 of the remaining 23 missiles targeted the taxiway around Lađevci military base that connected it to the runway, so that any surviving aircraft could not just simply go out onto the main runway.
(13) The remaining 13 missiles again targeted the aforementioned original 13 buildings for redundancy's sake.

The KMS Frigg targeted Military Airport Nis, which was the southern and military portion of: Nis Constantine the Great Airport.
(5) All five of the orange-roofed buildings in the west of the military airport were targeted by one missile each.
(2) The silver-roofed building directly north of those buildings was also targeted by one missile, along with the smaller silver-roofed building directly to the right of it.
(4) In the center of the military airport, the two large white-roofed buildings - presumably aircraft hangers - were each targeted by two missiles.
(3) The blue building directly left of these hangers was also targeted by a missile, and the two silver-roofed buildings to the left of that one were also each targeted by a missile.
(11) The concrete taxiway and concrete surface around the terminals was also target by ten missiles striking in different places (especially the taxiway leading to the runway), plus an additional missile for the large square concrete pad that was just north of the blue buildings.
(14) The remaining missiles were divided as follows: 14 of them struck the original 14 buildings that were already targeted.
(9) Of the remaining 9, 5 targeted the hangar on the left, and 4 targeted the hanger on the right.

The launching of the missiles began simultaneously from each of the three destroyers. Each missile launch took place 14 seconds after the previous one on that ship, meaning that it only took 11 minutes and 20 seconds for all 144 missiles to be launched from all three ships. One minute went buy after the last missile was launched, and then the ships turned their guidelights back on. They began heading south back where they came from, and took a more spread out pattern so that they had breathing room. The lights on the ships were then again extinguished as long as the officers aboard each ship could securely confirm that they could clearly see the other ships around them and knew the course they were on. The fleet, along with the submarines that were underwater (but had their internal lights on, of course), followed the exact same path back that they took to get to the location of the missile launch. Their destination was Marseille Naval Base. The fleet remained at general quarters with all of their sonar, radar, and monitoring equipment active to look for any threats, whether they be at sea or air.
