"Nearly 50 years has passed since the partition of the subcontinent and the independence of both India and Pakistan, of these 50 years, several of which have seen the spilling of blood over conflicts of interest.
1997, seems to be a fitting occassion for the peaceful resolution of territorial disputes and the signing of a non aggression pact, with the cold war era over, the subcontinent has the chance to heal its wounds and face the future with bright prospects indeed.
We trust that you, our counterparts reading this, will accept our hospitality by joining us in Islamabad on the occassion of a state visit. "
