PHILIPPINES 114th INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION: JUNE 12, 2012
The Federal Republic of the Philippines will celebrate its independence day today, Sunday, June 12, 2012. The celebrations will start with a simultaneous flag raising ceremony in different cities and prominent historical places in the country.
Philippine flags will be raised simultaneously in Luneta, Davao City, Cebu City, Cavite, Barasoain Church and at the Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City. Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will deliver his first independence day speech in Kawit, Cavite. He will also lead the wreath-laying ceremony as well as the flag raising in the balcony of the historical Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine.
The theme for this year’s Independence Day celebration is “Kalayaan, Paninindigan ng Bayan” (Freedom, Stand for it) described as the Philippines call to action. A parade will be held at around 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at the Quirino Grandstand. Different government agencies will have their own way of celebrating the Philippine Independence Day 2011. The Department of Trade and Industry will be having a job fair in Luneta, in which there are 53,000 jobs available for both local and international. The Department of Information and Communications Technology will also conduct a job fair for various jobs for their ongoing National Telecom and Broadband Project.
Metro Rail Transit and Light Rail Transit will join the celebration as well by giving a free rides to the public 7 A.M to 9 A.M. and 5 P.M. to 7 P.M.
