Secretary Wallström,

It is with great honour that I write this communique, the People's Republic of China has recently undergone a transition of power as we pave the way for a new and brighter future. With the election of President Zhou Tan, and the appointment of his government led by Premier Kai Kwan, China rises from the depths and rejoins the international community.

My government views the Kingdom of Sweden as one of the leading global powers, with diplomatic influence extending far beyond the European Region. As China seeks to redevelop itself, it is my government's priority to establish positive bilateral relations with key global players and seek areas of cooperation which would be mutually beneficial.

I hope that it will be possible to arrange a meeting between the Ambassador Zhou Chan and a member of your government to discuss these topics.

It is an honour and a priviledge to have recieved correspondence from you, I must apologise on behalf of Secretary Margot Wallström, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, who is otherwise engaged but has passed your message onto me. My name is Melinda Nilsson and I am the Assistant Secretary of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs, my responsibility is the relationship between the Kingdom of Sweden and our friends in Asia - I am your best point of contact for matters concerning the Swedish Government and would be extremely gracious to accept the company of Ambassador Zhou Chan at my offices in Sweden to discuss matters further.

Sweden has previously had a very close relationship with China, something we look to continue to progress since the appointment of your government. Please pass my congratulations onto President Zhou Tan, Premier Kai Kwan and the cabinet on your success in the election - I hope to see this as the beginning of a fruitful relationship between China and Sweden.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this correspondence. I fully understand that Secretary Mallstrom is currently engaged in other matters, running the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is no simple task. I am pleased to be able to get to know you and shall ensure that our databases are updated to ensure further correspondence from my Ministry is directed to your office.

I am pleased to hear that Sweden is willing to rebuild the positive relationship our nations maintained under previous administrations, and we too seek to establish a fruitful and cooperative relationship between China and Sweden.

I shall dispatch the Ambassador to your office once he has completed his preparations for the meeting. I wish you both a pleasant discussion.

The Ambassador, after receiving the communique, made his way over to the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Upon entering the building he would approach the reception and inform them of his scheduled meeting with the Assistant Secretary of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs.

The receptionist, a young aspiring female would smile sweetly before grabbing the phone and speaking in Swedish; she'd inform the Assistant Secretary of the Ambassadors arrival before swivelling in her chair and escorting him through the extensively decorated corridors through to the Bureau for Asian Affairs, from here the Secretary's office would stand at the bottom of the hallway with the door wide open. Within moments of arrival Assistant Secretary Nilsson would scurry out and greet the Ambassador.

"Ambassador! Welcome to the Bureau of Asian Affairs! I am so glad you've made it, please come in and take a seat; I'm sure we have much to discuss."

Assistant Secretary Nilsson would place two small glasses of water onto the coffee table between two leather seats where she would direct the delegate to take a seat.

The Ambassador followed the young lady through the corridors of the building. Upon greeting the Assistant Secretary, the Ambassador extended his hand in greeting, "Ms Nilsson, thank you for making time to hold these discussions." He followed the Assistant Secretary into the office and took his seat, taking a sip of water while he waited for Ms Nilsson to begin the discussions.

"We have always had a very close relationship with China, particularly your previous government who I am sure enjoyed our custom more than our friendship" she would chuckle, implying she was joking but had absolutely no doubt in her mind at all, before she too would take a seat and cross her legs.

"I was excited to see you reach out to us for a meeting and please, let me congratulate you and your government on their success in appointment. I can probably guess you've been flooded with paperwork from central government with your plans globally, so let me ask, how do you see our relationship panning out in the future? Do you have any specific plans?"

"Assistant Secretary, my government is eager to re-establish the close friendship historically enjoyed between our two great nations and we thank you for your congratulations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been busy with its diplomatic outreach programmes in order to reach out to various world and regional leaders."

"I believe that the Kingdom of Sweden and the People's Republic of China can establish a positive bilateral relations through means of close cooperation on topics which are mutually beneficial. Topics such as trade, security, scientific cooperation and many other fields. As of this moment, my government is focused on building a diplomatic network of friends and allies across the globe. Our hope is that Sweden can act as our gateway to Europe, through which we can engage in various programmes of cooperation."
