*Example of the housing behind the inspiration of the development
Bairro Cazenga Terraced Housing Development is a development project to construct 22,643 households, 1,082 business premises, 3 parks, 2 primary schools and 1 high school in a 2.818km2 area in the district of Bairro Cazenga, Luanda. The households are to be constructed in a modern style of a British 'two-up-two-down' byelaw terraced house.
Built over two separate but neighbouring sites, site 1 is a 0.228km2 area with 2,008 households and 96 business premises.
Meanwhile, site 2 is a 2.59km2 area with 20,635 households, 986 business premises, 2 large primary schools, 3 2 hecture parks and 1 high school. The primary schools, educating years 4 to 11, have a combined capacity of 3000 pupils, with a pupil to teacher ratio of 36:1. The high school, educating years 11 to 18, has a capacity of 4000 students, with a student to teacher ratio of 28:1.
All structures will feature the most modern appliances and facilities.
To prevent congestion on the current and to-be-built roads, the new roads will be wider than average to facilitate on-street parking, whilst roads parallel to the main roads of Rua dos Comandos, Rua dos Patricio and N'Gola Kiluanje will be constructed to service the buildings adjacent, mitigating the extent of additional traffic on the main roads.
In an initiative to rehome households currently living in the slums of the city, the households will have ownership allocated to families and individuals free of charge on a needs basis. The households will feature the most modern and update-to-date utilities and amenities in an effort to rapidly modernise Luanda's living standards.
