PROJECT INFORMATIONPillboxes placed at intervals on either side of major roadways, thick concrete protection and housing for a D-44 AT gun and many surplus shells, as well as an HMG mounting. Placed in pairs. Camouflaged using painting, as well as planted undergrowth and bushes to obscure the location. All all placed in elevated locations and on straightaways, giving maximum range and visibility of vulnerable enemy columns. Designed for ambushes. Pillbox protects from small arms fire, heavy machine gun fire, shell fragments, and autocannon fire.

The pillboxes are located as follows:

GIR 1: 10 sets between Kasangulu and Kinshasa, 10 sets between Kimpoko and Kinshasa, and 15 sets inside of Kinshasa along National Route 1.
GIR 2: 4 sets from Kipushi to Lubumbashi along National Route 37, 3 sets from Baya to Lubumbashi along National Route 1.
GIR 3: 1 set at (-1.6789577076166835, 29.228536097852093), 4 sets along National Route 3 within Bukavu. 15 sets along National Route 2 between Bukavu and Goma.
GIR 4: 4 sets between Muanda and Boma and 4 between Boma and Matadi along National Route 1. 1 set at Kikenge and 3 sets between Bandakani and Kilanda along national route 12.
GIR 5: 2 sets between PopoKabaka and Kikamba along National Route 16. 3 sets between Kinshasa and Kafulu-Lundala along National Route 1.
GIR 6: 2 sets along Route 228.
GIR 7: 2 sets on either side of Kikwit, along National Route 1.
GIR 8: One set at (-3.31118103057308, 17.366552471744136)
GIR 9: Two sets between Mongai and Tshikapa city along National Route 1.
GIR 10: 5 sets between Isangempoo and Ilebo along National Route 20.
GIR 11: One set at (-3.306630008482049, 17.590829245641306)
GIR 12: 10 sets between Wenge and Baliko
GIR 13: 1 set each at Yumbi, Libenge, and Mobayi-Mbongo. 8 between Zongo and Boyabo along National Route 23. 5 between Gemena and Akula along National Route 6, 4 between Gemena and Businga along National Route 24.
GIR 14: 8 sets from Dilolo to Luiza along National Route 39.
GIR 15: 20 sets between Kimpanga and Mbuji-Mayi along National Route 1.
GIR 16: 1 set inside of Kolwezi.
GIR 17: 5 sets from Kabondo Dianda to Mwene-Ditu along National Route 1.
GIR 18: 3 sets from Kananga to Mbugi-Mayi along National Route 1.
GIR 19: 7 sets from Mbandaka to Yayama along National Route 8.
GIR 20: 3 sets from Malundja to Bumba along National Route 6.
GIR 21: 2 sets in Lubumbashi, one along National Route 1 and one along National Route 37.
GIR 22: 3 sets from Likashi to Lubumbashi, along National Route 1.
GIR 23: 5 sets from Kolwezi to Guba along National Route 39.
GIR 24: 2 sets from Sentery to Kindu along National Route 2 / National Route 31.
