PROJECT INFORMATION | DIAP APGK-105 Artillery Precision Guidance Kit is a modular precision guidance system developed by the Defense Industry Association of the Philippines (DIAP) which aim to enhance the accuracy of all conventional, unguided 105-mm artillery projectiles. The APGK-105 Artillery Precision Guidance Kit is a low cost fuze sized module that is used in lieu of a standard fuze on existing stockpile artillery projectiles to reduce ballistic delivery errors, improving artillery terminal effectiveness. The amount of improvement is dependent on the magnitude of the uncorrected errors and the error reduction capability of the PGK approach. PGK is a fuze-sized "module" that will have GPS to provide the location of the round and time during its flight while an inertial navigation system (INS) will determine the trajectory and continuously correct the round for increased accuracy. In operation, the APGK-105 module screws into the nose of the projectile much like conventional fuzes. In addition to the fuzing function it provides a GPS guidance package and control surfaces to correct the flight of the shell. Small aerodynamic fins allow the system to steer the shell on target. Its GPS receiver compares the PGK's flight pattern to the coordinates of where it should hit, and the fins adjust its path to match where the round will actually impact. A fail safe exists where if the shell does not impact within 150 m (490 ft) of the intended target, it will land but not explode; the APGK-105 "decides" five seconds after launch whether it expects to impact close enough to detonate. This safety feature is expected to give soldiers more confidence when calling in artillery support close to their position. GENERAL SPECIFICATION 1.) Guidance: GPS 2.) Accuracy: 2.1.) Increment I: < 50 m circular error probable (CEP) 2.2.) Increment II: < 30 m circular error probable (CEP) 3.)Fusing options: Point detonating or proximity airburst 4.) Total Weight: 1.5 kgs. 5.) Compatible with all unguided 105-mm artillery projectiles |
