PROJECT INFORMATION | Mineral Extraction Project (MEP) will be a crucial part of the revitalization of the Northern economy. The project will see 4.5 billion USD spread across hundreds of mines. The project would increase mineral reserves, improve trade output, advance market shares, and improve Korean domestic industries such as electronics and automobiles. As part of the new MEP Project, to improve out, the mines will integrate robotic technology. The technological imputs would be sourced from domestic companies and have access to technologies available to Korea. Technological aspect - Tele-operated and automated load-haul-dump trucks that self-navigate through tunnels, clearing the walls by centimeters - The 3500 tonne dragline automated loading and unloading - robot device for drilling and bolting mine roofs to stabilize them after blasting - mining in flooded gravels and sands underground, where human operators cannot go - robotic drilling and blasting device for inducing controlled caving. The following reserves will be extracted: 6 trillion tons of rare earth minerals (magnetite, tungsten, graphite, molybdenum 100 billion tons of limestone 6 billion tons of magnesite 5 billion tons of iron 5 billion tons of anthracite 21 million tons of Zinc 3 million tons of copper 2 million tons of barite 2 million tons of graphite 2 thousand tons of gold The project would be apart of the wide infrastructure renovation and expansion with the following goals - Expand existing mining infrastructure - Modernizing personal and site equipment - Safety standards |
