Referendum for Bosnian Croats

The polling stations have opened in areas populated by Croats including Sarajevo. All participants will be recquired to show some form of identification and may only cast one ballot. The Referendum will last until August 1st.

This Morning the Bosnian government met with leaders from the Croat community in Sarajevo following the referendum's conclusion to discuss the future of the Croat minority inside the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina. It appears as though 45.5% of Croats voted in favour of maintaining the status quo as opposed to 36.4% in favour of reunification with Croatia. In order to reach a satisfying compromise with the nationalist elements of the community it has been decided that Croat communities will be granted a limited form of autonomy.
