Armed gunmen stormed into the main police station of Ambilobe, firing weapons widely into the air as they subdued and captured the surprised officers in the building. 3 officers were killed reaching for weapons or attempting to fight back but the remainder quickly resigned. They were quickly hooded and handcuffed into one large room as a red flag was hoisted above the police station and main town hall. Token resistance was put up by the local police, but the vast majority gave up peacefully. Over 2,000 armed militants had stormed the city using old weaponry provided by the organised crime groups on the island.
The news of the capture was announced on national and international media based within the city. On the outskirts, the militants quickly begun to dig in and occupy buildings on the outskirts of the city, ready for the inevitable counter attack which would be made by the Malagasy Central government. The militants weaponry was small arms, the group in desperate need of heavier weaponry.
In the Capital, news would begin to trickle back in of the situation up North.
From their base in Antsiriania, 1st Battalion 3rd Infantry Regiment arrive on the outskirts of Amibilobe. 752 troops, 70 DAF YA-4442 and 8 Dongfeng Mengshi prepare to enter the city as small arms fire begun to be fired on their vehicles. With them, A Squadron of 219 troops from 7th Battalion, 3rd Engineer Regiment remained behind in reserves, with 35 DAFYA442 and 2 Dongfeng Mengshi.
The 4 Infantry Companies split up, 2 will take the centre and another 2 will take each flank. As they continue to push into the city, shots continued to fill the air as rounds flew left and right. Jumping out of the vehicles, the companies begin to set up positions in the buildings. The Companies' weapons platoons push to the roofs to set up their machine guns, anti tank and mortars. Heavy resistance was met by the troops forcing the advance to be stopped.
The President of Madagascar meanwhile has summoned an emergency senate meeting to take place tomorrow, a State of Emergency Bill has been put forth to the senate by the cabinet to give emergency powers to the President.
The Emergency National Security Council met in the deep bunker of the Presidential Palace. Around a conference table the Ministers, civil servants and National Security Advisors met in total secrecy.
President: "Ladies and Gentlemen, as you are aware we have lost control of a large area of Northern Madagascar, our forces are on the ground taking casualties and attempting to regain control of the situation. With your kind agreement. it is my desire to push through a state of emergency through the National senate. We will take control of this situation whatever the cost may be.
I have asked of Justice Secretary to draft up the bill. Here are the key points;
We will be given the right to detain anyone suspected of sedation for an indefinite period of time while this war is ongoing, we will have the right to seize assets and property from those fighting against our government, we will have the right to use force against those who fight against us, we will have stronger spending arrangements outside of Parliaments approval and we shall allow widespread intelligence gathering against those committing treason amongst other things. This bill shall be presented to Parliament tomorrow, if anyone opposes this bill, I will accept your resignation with immediate effect. We must make sacrifices to protect our nation.
