To whom it may concern,

The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration are looking to acquire equipment that we have come to believe the Commonwealth of Australia operate.

The Swedish Air Force currently operate a number of Sikorsky MH-60R aircraft as part of the Maritime Safety Initiative that looks to ensure the safety and security of civilian travel in and around Scandinavian waters and shipping routes. As part of this project we are looking to increase the amount of aircraft we currently operate and would like to enquire about the purchase of further Sikorsky MH-60R helicopters (18x).

Further to this we are enquiring internationally for the purchase of frigates and/or destroye and whilst I contact you regarding the above proposal, would like to ask if you are able to offer any vessels of this class for our attention? I very much look forward to your response.

Dear Mr. Mårtensson, I'm not sure at the full legality of Australia producing versions of the Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk, we may find ourselves facing a legal challenge by First Choice Defence Sales if we did that. You should probably inquire with them if you wish to purchase that particular helicopter. As for frigates and destroyers, we could offer you the Anzac-Class Frigate. It's primarily an anti-submarine warfare frigate with extensive anti-ship capabilities. It however, does lack in the anti-air role which is why it should be complimented with an anti-air destroyer or cruiser, we do this with an Aegis destroyer. Dear Mike Kelly,

Whilst the Anzac-Class Frigate is a marvellous specimen of naval materiel, the pricing as outlined in your previous correspondence is waves above what we'd expect from an order of this size.

I can appreciate the necessity for Australia to make a monetary gain from this deal however with eight of these vessels being requested, the $1.6bil profit you would make would not meet the public funding criteria set forth by central government and with the current economic climate in Sweden on a knife edge I'm sure you can understand that the use of public money needs to go as far as possible.

Working per vessel, I am willing make room for a 28% profit each. The order stands for eight to be produced.
