Dear Volker Rühe,
I write to you in good faith on behalf of the Swedish Department of Defence - my role within the Swedish Government is as General Director of the Defence Materiel Administration which is the agency responsible for the supply of materiel to the defence organisation within Sweden.
The purpose of this correspondence in regarding the expasion of our naval fleet. We currently operate a number of Brandenburg-Class Frigate's with a nod to their wide range of capabilities including antiair, antiship and antisubmarine, it is by far one of the best pieces of foreign equipment we have every acquired and as a result the Chief of Navy Rear Admiral Jens Nykvist has asked me to discuss the possibility to purchase two further ships. Naturally, this process requires consultation with your office to not only discuss the possibility but also the financial implications of such a deal - this could be the start of a strong defence-orientated future between Sweden and Germany.
Regards,
Göran Mårtensson
General Director
Defence Materiel Administration
