Göran Mårtensson, General Director of the Defence Materiel Administration makes a telephone call to the United States Department of Defence.

[John]

John White, the Deputy Secretary of Defence, would pick up the phone on an encrypted line.

"Deputy Secretary White, how can I help?"

[Connor]

"Secrtetary White, good morning, my name is Göran Mårtensson I am the General Director of the Defence Materiel Administration over in Sweden... Are you well?"

"I am doing very well thank you, and yourself?"

@Connor

 

[Connor]

"I'm not bad, thank you for asking! Secretary I'm sure you can work out, especially from the department I am from, that Sweden is looking to invest heavily in American product; specifically within the Swedish Royal Navy. Since the taxation crisis has been resolved the Government of Sweden is investing approximately $7billion in the upgrade of Swedish Armed Forces capability, this includes moving our navy from territory defence to an internationally deployable force. Is this something you'd be willing to consult with me about?"

 

[John]

"That is something I can certainly discuss with you, is it solely the Swedish Navy you would like to invest in, or the Armed Forces as a whole?"

 

[Connor]

"At the moment, purely the Swedish Royal Navy, however following a successful partnership with the USA we'd be more than willing to invest more in your national products... As I say we have billions set aside for the modernisation of our Armed Forces."

Göran leans back in his chair before continuing...

"Secretary, first and foremost we're looking for a singular aircraft carrier capable of deploying fighter, logistical and surveillance aircraft... before you're deflated we'd also like to invest in the aircraft capable of deploying from such a vessel. A full package."

 

[John]

"Okay, well first off, our defence sales site currently has an offer which includes a Forrestal-class Aircraft carrier, thirty Harrier Jump Jets and ten Prowlers for around the $3billion mark.

Or, if you're after something a little more modern and bigger, I can offer you a Kitty Hawk-class, prices can vary depending on what aircraft you want to accompany it"

 

[Connor]

"How much are we looking at for a fully equipped Kitty Hawk-Class Aircraft Carrier in comparison to your bundle?"

 

[John]

"Give me a second.." The deputy would go quiet for a moment, keyboard clicking could be heard before he starts to speak again, "Okay, this is what I could offer you:

• Kitty Hawk-class: $2,467,900,000.00
• F/A-18D Hornet (x30): $1,000,500,000.00
• EA-6B Prowler (x10): $598,000,000.00
• UH-1N Twin Huey (x5): $32,200,000.00
• C-2 Greyhound (x5): $224,020,000.00

Coming to a total of:

• $4,322,620,000.00

"That sounds reasonably fair to me, we won't need the UH-1N Twin Huey however we're happy to take the rest for $4,290,000,000.00 flat."

"Okay, we can get that sorted. Whilst we're here, may I ask if there are any other purchases you wish to inquire about? Not even strictly navy, we have a lot of ground and air systems we would be willing to sell"

 

[Connor]

"When are we likely to see production begin?... At this stage there's nothing that springs to mind however if you have product that you think may be of interest to us please feel free to pitch it?"

 

[John]

"The ships are currently under production right now. I currently don't have anything to offer right now, but if you think of anything - don't hesitate to mention it"
