Magufuli Wins Presidential Election​ ​

It has been announced that the new president of the United Republic of Tanzania is John Magufuli. The CCM nominee won the majority vote, with approximatley 8.8 million votes. This tops his primary rival of the CHADAMA, Edward Lowassa, by over 2 and a half million. The CCM also gained a significant majority in the Nation Assembly with 252 seats won out of a total 367. Magufuli's victory follows a very successful campaign, fueled by promises to crack down on corrption and to improve the nation's human rights issues . These issues have often been a the top of the agenda for many former administrations, though seeing little success.
