Minister Tanaka,
I hope that the Armed Forces modernization of the State of Japan has been resonated well by the general population and that you are upholding the dream of the Japanese people to protect their sovereignty.
I am reaching out to you as the leader of the Republic of Thailand, the beacon of democracy and human rights in Asia. We have acknowledged that Japan aspires to be the major player within Asia and even the world. Thailand believes that for Japan to grow and could lead this world, it needs nation that has been gone through many criticisms and praises. The Republic Thai Armed Forces operated the blue-water navy, which mean that we could project power anywhere in the world. While Japan might indeed possess advance technology from its legacy and rich history, the experienced of the Thai military couldn’t be ignored. Thailand and Japan could prove to be a stabilizing force within Asia and the world if we cooperate with each other and share mutual understanding and respect.
The Thai Government wants to host a summit between Thailand and Japan in Bangkok. It would encompass our high-level government official, including the Minister of Defense. Concurrently, we would expect the Japanese Government to send you as the defense minister and request the Japanese ambassador or diplomat to participate. The agenda includes, but not limits to the discussion and learning of each country policy, the signing of the Harmonious Accord, joint statement of Thailand welcoming Japan to the network of international alliance, intelligence sharing, and defense cooperation.
The Republic of Thailand considers the State of Japan is a potential strategic alliance, which could prove to be an asset to the already existing cooperate framework between Southeast Asian nations, Thailand, France, and Turkey. Japan will be one of the many nations that are considered for the first phase of Harmonious Accord signatory expansion, such as Spain, Portugal, Poland, Italy, and Australia. We are optimistic that with Japan, along with other nations, could path the way for this world to be a stable, peaceful, and democratic planet.
Please let me know your thought. Thailand is eager to host the delegation from Japan.
Yours in Diplomacy,
Thaksin Shinawatra
Prime Minister
