Old Norse Construction Company
This family-owned Norwegian corporation has existed, in some form, for a millennium. Legend has it that around the year 1000 A.D. an old Viking who knew that the Viking Age was coming to an end wanted his son to have a fruitful future. He gathered most of the small fortune he and his ancestors had made from raiding and pillaging England. Part of this money was to pay the most skilled carpenter is Scandinavia to take on his inexperienced son as an apprentice, and the other portion would eventually be used to build shop in Trondheim, which had only been founded a few years earlier in 997 A.D. The son, named Olaf Thorson, quickly picked up the trade of carpentry and his interests expanded into construction as well. The Old Norse Construction Company began under Olaf in the year 1005 - he is rumored to be responsible for much of the early construction of Trondheim. The company - which at that time were merely a shop - was passed down from father to son, and slowly expanded over time. Soon, the fathers and sons added masonry to their craft as well. With many trials and tribulations, from surviving the Black Death to experiencing World War Two, the corporation has lived on among the family. It was one of the first companies traded on the Oslo stock market, and is today the most trusted construction company in Norway, and probably the best-known in Scandinavia. Today, 60 year old Hallvard Thorson is President, and his 30 year old son Jon Thorson is CEO. In order to take the company forward, they decided that for the first time in its history The Old Norse Construction Company will offer its services outside of Norway.
