Turkiye Joins List of Nations to Recognize Republic of China
In a surprise announcement Turkiye has announced that it will officially recognize the Republic of China as an independent and sovereign state, defying Beijing's longheld policy of refusing to work with countries that deal with the Republic. This change in Turkish policies as well as the prospect of future positive relations between Taipei and Ankara is the most recent success in the government's policy to encourage other countries to open relations with the Republic. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also announced diplomatic outreaches from the State of Japan and the Republic of Thailand. It is hoped that the actions of these countries will encourage other more reluctant stages to move towards official recognition as well.
