Mister President,

It is with a heavy heart that I contact you in regard to death of the Portuguese Royal Family. Please accept my condolences on behalf of the First Family, the White House, and the American People. The death of a head of state is a tragedy, but the death of the entire Royal Family is an overwhelming disaster. Again, I extend to you my deepest condolences. I find it difficult to express in words how much I wish there was something that I could do to change what has happened, but alas I am powerless to do nothing but mourn along with the American People for your nation's loss.

I want you to know, from one head of state to another, that I offer the full support of the Federal Government and my administration for your nation's transition from a constitutional monarchy to a republic. I can only imagine that this will be a difficult and painful transition for your people and your government. If there is anything I can do to extend legitimacy to your new republican government, please ask and I will do everything that I can to help.

Effective this evening, I will order all United States flags throughout the nation to half-staff in remembrance of the Royal Family and for the Portuguese People.

Your words have warmed my heart knowing your support and the love than the American People have for our nation and its people in this time of need and sorrow.

The death of a young royal family will forever be ingrained in our nation's memory.
This path set for us by our constitution, will be a arduous one, filled with adversity. However we find solace in knowing that the future is bright. We also find support in nations such as the United States of America, and their own path, it is a honor to tell you that a new constitution is being forged with inspiration from the US Constitution, which will be made by the people and for the people, with the ideals of Montesquieu, that a government should be set that so no man should fear no man.

We will be mindful and vigilant, as in time such as these, there are people that will always take advantage.

I again thank you for your kind words and your kind actions, and hope that we meet again in better circumstances
