Good afternoon,

It is my duty to inform you that you have been summoned by the President. Your presence as the most senior Canadian diplomat to the United States is essential and required within the next hour. If you are unable to arrive within this time frame inform my office immediately. Report to the following address as soon as possible, as this is a matter of pressing importance:

The Canadian charge d'affaires to the United States of America, Frank McKenna, departed from the Canadian Embassy immediately upon receiving the notice from the President's office. Within fifteen minutes, he had arrived to the White House. He stopped for McDonalds on the way, though he had devoured everything before arriving to assure no evidence remained.

The Secret Service allowed McKenna's motorcade to enter the north entrance to the White House off of Pennsylvania Avenue. After arriving, McKenna would be escorted into the White House and brought the security to scan for any metals or weapons - if none were found he would be escorted to the West Wing and to the Oval Office. Inside of the Oval Office was President Gore, Secretary of State Jackson Fitzgerald, and Secretary of Defense John Glass.

"Mister McKenna, thank you for joining us on such short notice," President Gore said from behind the Resolute Desk. "Please, come join us."

President Gore went take a seat at one of the sofa's next to the fireplace in the Oval Office. Fitzgerald and Glass sat to his left, and he was offered the sofa across from them. The President offered everyone a glass of water.

"Mister McKenna I will just get right to it. The United States Coast Guard has detected a large Canadian fleet in the Carribean. I understand that the situation in, understandably, very tense right now. But why is this fleet operating in the Carribean?" the President asked. Gore did not sound angry or upset, but just genuinely curious. It was a mystery to the United States as to why a Canadian fleet would be operating so far away from Canada when there had just been a coup attempt in their country.

"Ah, yes." McKenna began. "All I know is that the operation is of upmost national security. All other information about it, including its purpose, has been omitted from me. I imagine it's due to the attempted coup that occurred, though I'm sorry to say I can only speculate at this point as I've been kept in the dark for most of it." He paused for a moment, then spoke again. "Though, Prime Minister McKay has been located from the rubble, if anyone knows more about this it—"

He was cut off as the phone on the President's desk rang, the man of the other line being the King of Canada, Euan.

One of the President's senior members of staff walked into the Oval Office and handed him a piece of paper which had scribbled on it, "King of Canada, Line 1." President Gore stood up from the sofa, "Excuse me, Mister McKenna. It looks like your King is on the telephone," he said. President Gore walked behind the Resolute Desk and sat down at his chair. He pressed the answer button, followed by the speaker-phone button, on his secure line in the Oval Office.

"This is President Gore, I have you on speakerphone with the secretaries of State and Defense, as well as the Canadian Charge d'affaires for the Canadian Embassy in Washington. Are you alright, Your Majesty?" the President asked as he looked at the landline on his desk.

The King, using his personal secure phone line, began. "I am doing well, thank you for your concern. Though, the same cannot be said of my son who was shot during the attacks, the over one thousand citizens and MPs who died at the Hill, or the hundreds before them during the attack on Ottawa's international airport. Things in Canada... are very dire, indeed." He paused as one of his aides entered the room, quickly shooing them away as he pointed to the telephone. "I'm calling you now, Your Excellency, to inform you of a... horrifying development. As the Canadian army pushed the terrorists out of Ottawa and back to the holes they crawled out of, the soldiers located their headquarters and main storage facility. There, they discovered thousands of weapons, explosives, equipment, and millions of dollars in cash. Among these weapons were..." Euan looked at the document on his desk, recalling the exact number. "Four-thousand six-hundred and-twenty-seven FAMAS assault rifles. As you know, these rifles are French. My government and its military carried on further verification through its serial numbers and factory stamps and they were all manufactured at a MAS factory and upon interrogations of captured terrorist leaders, it was revealed to us that these rifles were smuggled to them via St. Pierre and Miquelon to aid in their mission to coup the Canadian government and assassinate both myself and my family."

He took a moment to take a breather, he was old and talking for such lengths was far more demanding than he would ever dare admit. "As you know, Canada cannot allow that to be 'diplomatically solved.' War was declared. As we speak, Canadian marines have landed across the French islands in the Caribbean, Guiana, and St. Pierre and Miquelon. I wished to speak with you directly, one-on-one, regarding all of this as I imagine you have many concerns and that all of this... caught you very much off guard, which I apologize for—America is our nation's greatest friend and ally and it's not my nor my government's intentions to blind-side you.

With that said, I wish to make two things clear: the Canadian Armed Forces will not be expanding its operations against the Empire of France anywhere outside of the Caribbean and we have absolutely no intentions of attacking mainland France or any of its territories outside of the Caribbean Sea. Our pure intention through this war is to eliminate any threat France could pose upon the Kingdom of Canada by removing them from the New World.

Is there anything else I can address to ease your concerns?"

President Gore picked up the receiver and put it up to his ear, taking the phone off of speakerphone. "I am so sorry to hear about your son, Your Majesty... I know that you are handing a lot on your plate right now, and I imagine there is great political instability and confusion in Ottawa at the moment.. But I have to ask, is there any concrete evidence that the French government smuggled these French weapons from St. Pierre and Miquelon into Canada? What would France's motive be to overthrow the Canadian government?" the President asked.

"There is evidence, including camera footage and physical letters which the army recovered, pointing towards a French-flagged container ship arriving in Quebec City. One of the containers it was carrying held these weapons as all evidence of it disappeared once it arrived at the City's port. It's very likely the terrorists had contacts at the port that aided in the container disappearing. We also have testimony from captured terrorists stating the evidence we've gathered is true. Joint Task Force 2 is currently attempting to find the mastermind behind these attacks as we speak, something which Delta Force will be helping them accomplish." He sighed. "It is our belief that this mastermind is currently trapped in Joliette, the city surrounded by the Canadian military."

President Gore could hear the King sighing several times. He was, as Gore was in 1997, under an indescribable amount of stress. Gore could remember when Delta Force rescued he and his family in Tennessee, and then flew him back to Washington. He could remember being told, while his helicopter was refueling in the valley of some mountain in Appalachia, that President Clinton was dead and that he was now the President of the United States. He could remember breaking a sweat as he contemplated that the United States and Russia might be in the middle of a strategi war and that the United States was potentially losing. He remembered wondering what would happen if this coup attempt was successful, and if the last thing remembered in the history of the American Republic was a Vice President selfishly flying home to see his dying father instead of being at the Capitol with the rest of his friends and colleagues and political rivals.

President Gore broke a sweat and closed his eyes. A few seconds of silence likely went by as the King waited for Gore to respond. "Your Majesty, I will take your government at its word and we will not interfere with your current military operations against France in the New World. I appreciate what you said about keeping this conflict isolated to the Western Hemisphere. If Canada were to attempt any kind of attack or invasion into France in Europe, the Federal Government would have to withdraw its support and the situation would change entirely... but I think you already know that. With that being said, the Navy and the Coast Guard will continue to patrol the high seas to ensure that nations outside of France and Canada are not involved in this conflict... We really do not want this to escalate beyond what it already is.

"Would your government allow the FBI to come and review, and copy, the evidence that the RCMP has in its possession?" he asked.

"Aye, escalation is the last thing either of our nations and people need right now." The King paused for a moment to contemplate President Gore's request. There was still a large risk from attacks by terrorists, though most of them had now been contained to only one city. "I don't see why not, Your Excellency." Euan told him eventually. "While the equipment has remained in Rawdon, the town that had served as the headquarters of the terrorists, the Canadian Army and Delta Force should have no issue keeping the FBI and RCMP safe from potential attacks by those who were able to scatter off. I'll inform my government of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's intent to investigate this and they'll have an armored escort up to Rawdon in Quebec. I'm certain the RCMP would also have no objections if the FBI wishes to interrogate any of the terrorists we've been able to detain and arrest as well."

"Thank you, Your Majesty. I will have the FBI contact the RCMP and we will get some agents in Canada to look at the evidence. Our... special forces," Gore said, since the existence of Delta Force was officially denied by the Federal Government, "have arrived in Canada. I hope that they will prove to be useful. Please reach out to me if there is anything that we can do. The United States armed forces are ready to assist on the ground in Canada at a moment's notice," he said.

"I will give a national address later today to update the American People on what is happening in Canada, and here in the Western Hemisphere. I am going to assure my government, the public at large, and the other nations around the world that this conflict will not go beyond French colonies in the Atlantic and will not be expanded to Europe in any capacity," Gore said very clearly.

"Your Majesty, do not hesitate to reach out directly to me if you need anything. God speed to our troops," he said. If there was nothing else to add from either side, the phone call would be terminated.
