[Èire] Phonecall to Canada

[Dragon]

The Taoiseach of Èire, Ardghar Ó Cuimín would place a call via an encrypted line to Canada's Prime Minister.

"Hello, this is Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Èire speaking...how do you do, your excellency?"

Ó Cuimín waited for a reply before proceeding to light a cigarette from a box of Carrolls an hour before tea.

[Owen]

The Chief of Staff would walk into the Prime Minister's office.

"Sir, the Taoiseach is on the phone."

The Prime Minister would pick up.

"Good evening sir, what can I do for you?"

 

[Dragon]

Ó Cuimín would smile for a brief second and answer the Canadian's question.

"I was wondering if I could somehow strengthen our diplomatic relations and perhaps sign a free trade agreement in order to facilitate a mutually beneficial economic boom.in our two respective nations."

Ó Cuimín would smoke his cigarette and then take a sip of tea as he waited from a response on the other side of the line.

"Well we would need to negotiate that first on terms which are beneficial to Canada and Canadians. What are you proposing?"

 

[Dragon]

"Naturally, what terms would you suggest for Canada with regards to such a trade agreement per se?" Ó Cuimín asked curiously.

 

[Owen]

"Protection of Canadian Jobs and Industries, particularly timber, oil, cars."

 

[Dragon]

"So I see, your excellency, that you wish to secure a sense of economic security for your countrymen and their home industries...understandable given Canada's position in the world. We in Èire, would like to expand our efforts at industrialization while boasting our economy through free trade and foreign investment if at all possible. I would have no problem with guaranteeing the protection of these industries provided Irish goods get a reasonable position on the Canadian market."

"And what would those goods be?"

 

[Dragon]

"Alcohol, Potatoes, Poultry, Butter, Cosmetics, Zinc, Lead, Pharmaceuticals, Organic Chemicals, Computers, etc.."
