Official Statement
As a result of recent events in the region of former Yugoslavia, The Government of The Republic of Ireland would like clarify its policy regarding the status of Kosovo which is as follows:
- The Defense Forces of The Republic of Ireland shall under no circumstances undertake operations directed against The Republic of Serbia nor shall any operations be carried against the unilaterally Independent regime in Kosovo. Though peacekeeping might be authorized at the request of either side.
- No Military or Financial Assets of Irish origin are to be in a position of use by either Serbia or Kosovo after January 1st, 2014
- The Republic of Ireland shall oppose both Serb dominion over Kosovo and Kosovar unilateral action favouring instead the peaceful resolution of conflict in said location and the right to autonomy in every aspect other than foreign relations or defense provided safeguards be in place for the Serbian community.
- The lifting of restrictions on entry and asylum to allow for the resettlement of Serb and Kosovar upon Irish soil if desired.
