"Live from the Studios of Seven Perth, this is Rick Arden and Susannah Carr."
"It's the end of an era tonight for the Richard Court Government. After 8 years of leading the state, Geoff Gallop and the Labor Party have won in a landslide. Labor secured nearly 60% of the Two-party preferred vote, sending the Coalition into oblivion, with the Premier even losing his own seat to Independent Liz Davenport. In total, Labor are looking to have won 42 seats in the 57 seat Legislative Assembly, with the Coalition left on 10 and the Crossbench with 5. In the Legislative Council, Labor are on the cusp of securing a majority in their own right, with 17 seats projected for them there out of the 34 available. It only took the Premier 2 hours after polls closed to formally concede defeat. This historic victory means that all states and territories, except the Northern Territory, now have Labor-led governments."
