Following the signing of the Sathirathai-Yildiz Communiqué, the Thai Foreign Ministry launched a new webpage inviting cooperatives and civil society to join the new Thai Development Assistance Program (TDAP). Under the new agreement, the Socialist Republic of Thailand would advise and assist the People’s Republic of Türkiye with its economic rebuilding based on socialist principles. Within the first hours, a few thousand people signed up for the new assistance program, promising to contribute materially and ideologically to proletarian internationalism praxis. The Department of Middle East Affairs would lead such an initiative. Concurrently, Rotating Coordinator Thaksin Shinawatra addressed the nation during his morning press conference; Thailand was committed to the Turkish revolution’s success and sustainability.

Among three thousand people travelling to Türkiye during the first week following the joint communique declaration, thirty-five nationals held diplomatic passports. In reality, twenty-five of them were under the Office of Foreign Intelligence (OFI), which was tasked with monitoring counter-revolutionary forces in the country. They landed at international airports across Türkiye alongside ordinary program participants, where they serve among the democratically elected coordinators with official covers. The nation wasn’t quite a picture of harmony or prosperity. Economic ruin following the 2006 Financial Crisis had left a deep scar on a once-united land.

Chayutra Tangtip, known as Koya, arrived in Ankara alongside a few hundred Thai people. She had worked with the OFI for eight years, and last month was her 30th birthday. A fervent member of the Anti-American Society and the Confederal Feminist Association, she came to Türkiye representing Thailand and these communist fronts’ agendas. She left the airport and took a public bus to the Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions Headquarters. On the way, she scrolled through her phone, reading posts from SahaiLink and keeping up with events in Thailand.

A message popped up: “How are you doing in Türkiye? I hope everything is alright.” It was from her longtime boyfriend, Shan. Their bonds grew since high school, resulting in their marriage three years ago. They were planning to have their first child. “I’m a little nervous, but I also can’t show emotion much since I’m also on official duty. Have you eaten breakfast that I left for you this morning?” She replied with a smile on her face. Love was a universal language unbounded by ideologies. Its forms only changed based on the economic base and resulting superstructure. Koya and Shan found solace in communal gardening.

The bus halted, bringing Koya back from her reverie. “The CTTU Headquarters,” she murmured, and left the vehicle alongside her backpack. She knew that democracy was finally coming to Türkiye. However, it was also her duty to inform the organization of external threats posing to destroy the burgeoning democratic movement in the country. The Western imperialist countries, such as the United States, would never stop their anti-democratic agenda based on their authoritarian society. With a deep breath, Koya wore a friendly Thai face and entered the CTTU Headquarters, requesting a meeting with the organization’s leadership as a representative from the Socialist Republic of Thailand.

Nazmi Irgat looked up from a folder thick with reports and handwritten notes when the receptionist knocked twice and opened the door.

“A visitor, from Thailand,” she said. “Official delegation.”

He stood slowly, brushing crumbs from the front of his shirt. He hadn’t had time for lunch, only a simit from a street vendor half an hour ago
. “Send them in.”

“Nazmi Irgat,” he introduced, shaking her hand firmly. “Deputy Secretary General. Welcome to Ankara.”

Nazmi gave a quiet hum of approval as he studied the Thai lady in front of him.

Koya’s eyes brimmed satisfactorily as the CTTU’s Deputy General Secretary welcomed her. “Ah, comrade Nazmi, it is wonderful to meet you! Please accept my apologies for appearing out of the blue. After the signing of the joint communique between our governments, the Thai bureaucratic machines move quite quickly, and here I am in Ankara.” She remarked with a smile and settled into her seat. “Regardless, things appear to be eventful nowadays in Türkiye, right? I saw protests on the way, quite a spectacle of people exercising their right to peaceful assembly. Unfortunately, such fervor originated from the nationalists.” Koya sighed.

“Is there anything you can inform me about such demonstrations, comrade Nazmi? Are your organization’s members there? The Turkish government has been slow and unresponsive lately. If it keeps going, perhaps the CTTU needs to call a general strike with all its resources. A few nations are eyeing your country, and I believe some Turkish population abroad is plotting with foreign actors. Have you contemplated the possibility of splitting from the Turkish Workers’ Party and establishing a truly communist party committed to workers’ liberation? If anything, the state of the country's economy is appalling. How does the CTTU perceive the ongoing situations so far?” She asked with genuine curiosity.
