"Good Evening, I'm Juanita Phillips.
Last night saw one of the most dramatic elections in Australian history, after only being in power for 2 years after winning the 2010 election against Julia Gillard, Tony Abbott has lost by a landslide with Labor leader Kevin Rudd declaring this day a momentous occasion. This morning, he is on his way to Government House to be sworn in by the Governor-General. This ends nearly 2 years of apartheid policy imposed by the Abbott Government, which saw the creation of Aboriginal homelands and the separation of Aboriginal and White Australians in many public institutions such as schools. Kevin Rudd has said that his cabinet will be composed of notable Aboriginal members of Parliament, in an attempt to compensate. Kevin Rudd has also stated that Australia will rejoin the Global Assembly and will work closely with Western powers such as the United States and the United Kingdom to advance the principles of western democracies that Tony Abbott seemingly abandoned. He said this will be a new era for Australia and will look primarily at advancing the country's standing in the world to its former glory and advancing the economic growth of the country."
