After positive preliminary talks between the Argentine and Syrian Governments, the Argentine Republic has assembled a small delegation consisting of officials, technical personnel and bussinesmen to travel to Damascus to meet with syrian authorities in order to conduct an assesment of the middle eastern nations current situation and how best to channel and coordinate argentine assistance and investment to guarantee long term development and growth.

The argentine delegation would consis of:

- Mr. Hugo Ibarra (Deputy Director of the Argentine Development and cooperation Agency (ADCA))
- Mr. Ignacio Gonzalez (CEO of Patagonia Shipping)
- Ms. Gabriela Ciccone (Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure)
- Group of technical experts and other investors

Once in Syria, the delegation would be expanded with the presence of the argentine Ambassador in Damascus and the head of the commercial section of that Embassy. The delegation coming from Argentina would arrive on a commercial flight, previously informed to the syrian Government.

The tower would clear the incoming aircraft to land at Damascus international. The aircraft would be led to a sectioned off area of the airfield where a delegation from the Syrian Ministry of the Economy and Trade to include the Minister himself would be waiting along with Syrian Government Vehicles to transport them to the Ministry to begin the initial work.

As the ground crew helped spin down the aircraft and attached the stairs and opened the cabin door the Minister would be waiting to greet the delegation.

Once verybody was seated and after hearing the words from the syrian Minister of the Economy and Trade, Head of Delegation Mr. Hugo Ibarra would speak.

"Minister, ladies and gentlemen, it is an honor for me to be leading this delegation today here in Damascus. Argentina and Syrian have a long standing relation and cultural link, due to the important influx of syrian immigrants to Argentina throughout the last century. Today, thousands of syrian and syrian descendants call Argentine their home, and we are more than happy to contribute with the development and progress of the country of their ancestors. Even our previous President, Carlos Saul Menem, was of syrian heritage.

So, we find ourselves here today to help you develop your nations infrastructure through the Argentine Development and Cooperation Agency, through tehcnical know-how sharing and direct investment.

We believe that the industrialization and mechanization of your economy should be the foundation of your progress. Once we have identified these strategic areas, we can move on to determine how to improve their productivity and to facilitate their expansion in order to create more jobs for the local population and also allow Syria to export products to the international market, receiveng that way additional income through taxing exports. The second stage would focus on improving the logistics to produce those goods and to transport them from their points of productions to the consumer and ports for export.

Minister, what would you consider are Syria's main industries and their locations?
"
