The American Australian Association (AAA) is the largest privately funded non-profit organisation dedicated to broadening, strengthening and developing ties across the Pacific, established by Sir Keith Murdoch in New York City in 1948. For 76 years, its programs have connected the two cultures, guided Australians and Americans alike and provided new opportunities for a diverse network of trail blazers. The current President of the Association is the former Leader of the Opposition, Andrew Peacock. The consistent leadership, influence and cooperation the AAA brings to the two countries allows them to find agile and effective solutions to the challenges that exist in the world. The AAA has a long and impressive history of serving the relationship between the United States and Australia, providing an important forum for collaboration and exchange between political and business leaders: the US President, Australian Prime Ministers, Federal and State Cabinet Ministers, and the chief executives of leading companies across the United States and Australia have been among the many individuals hosted. The AAA's scholarships & exchanges champion progress, creativity and expression, providing opportunities to young American and Australian leaders to undertake transformational study, research and professional or artistic development in each other’s country. To date, the AAA has awarded almost US$18 million to over 1,100 graduates, veterans, artists and indigenous scholars. Currently scholarships include:
