Dear Your Majesty, Our government has taken an interest in your recent decision to announce that you will be formally apologising for the past atrocities of Japan. We would like to invite you on an imperial tour of Australia, accompanied by the Governor-General Her Excellency Dame Quentin Bryce. This tour will include the northern cities of Broome, Darwin and Townsville which came under direct Japanese attack as well as Sydney Harbour which came under a submarine attack and the AHS Centaur memorial in Coolangatta, Queensland, an event which constituted a major war crime against Australia by Japan as well as a visit to Canberra and the Australian War Memorial. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely, Kevin Rudd. |
