Dear Ambassador Santipitak, Under the Thailand-Australia Partnership on Food Security in the Red Meat and Cattle Sector which was signed in 2005, Australia agreed to provide $60 million of Official Development Assistance to Thailand in order to deliver the various programs agreed under the Partnership. I can announce today that the Government has allocated all $60 million for the Partnership and the programs will be delivered shortly. These programs will enhance the food security of the red meat and cattle sector within Thailand and will hopefully bring much needed expertise to the agricultural cooperatives of Thailand. Under the Partnership agreement, these programs are to be delivered jointly between the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and your Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives as well as with Australian not-for-profit organisations such as the Northern Territory Cattleman's Association.
