"Hello and welcome to this special one-hour edition of SBS World News, I'm Lee Lin Chin,

We start tonight with the developments in the Middle East. The Australian Defence Force is now engaged in battles with the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces, to stop attacks against Israel. This comes after a ferocious bombing campaign was launched against Saudi Arabia by an unknown power which has left thousands dead. We start tonight with our reporter Rashida Yosufzai in Tel Aviv."

"Well it was only a matter of time before something happened in the Middle East and it has and it has directly involved the Australian Defence Forces currently deployed here. Whilst the eyes of the world were on Turkey, a threat still loomed from Saudi Arabia. At about 10pm last night, Saudi Arabia launched a barrage of rockets towards the Israeli port city of Eilat in the far south of the country. Australian Forces responded with a naval artillery barrage on the city of Haql which has since lead to the cessation of hostilities for the time being. We have no reports of any Australian casualties at this time but there have been several hundred Israeli soldiers injured or killed in the attacks. We have reports that there is still some activity coming from the Australian vessels but we are unclear at this point in time what they are. Turkey has yet to make public comments, nor has the United States or the United Kingdom, but certainly Lee we are seeing things starting to heat up here in the Middle East and the Prime Minister has vowed that any and all force will be used against Saudi Arabia in order to neutralise the threat they pose to Israel or Australian forces should they continue to pose that threat. We are yet to hear from the Saudi Government as well."
