Overview​

The Australian Defence Export Office (ADEO) coordinates the whole-of-government effort to support the export success of Australian defence industry. The Office is responsible for delivering the initiatives outlined in the Defence Export Strategy. Australian defence exports are any defence-specific or dual-use goods or services exported by Australian defence industry, including as part of a supply chain, that are intended for a defence or national security end-use. The Australian Defence Export Office works closely with an international network of Defence Attachés and Austrade Business Development Managers in key markets. The ADEO also collaborates with a range of Australian Government agencies including Austrade, Export Finance Australia, the Office of Defence Industry Support, and state and territory governments, to provide support to Australian defence industry exports. The Defence Export Controls Branch remains separate to the ADEO. The ADEO and the Defence Export Controls Branch work closely to ensure that Australia’s export controls requirements are met and awareness of potential export controls is understood by Australian defence industry.

Australian Military Sales​

The role of the Australian Military Sales (AMS) team is to facilitate international government-to-government or commercial-to-government gifting, sales or transfer of: Surplus Australian Defence Force (ADF) equipment (advertised here from time to time) Australian industry products Australian origin sensitive technology AMS prepares and coordinates the transfer documentation to enable the gifting, sales or transfer activity.
