Right now it is the dry wharves and the docks for the naval assets that need to be finished. We can talk privately on the plane, and also discuss additional plans once we hit the ground at the St. Peter Base and actually have an on the ground look at the island stronghold.

The argentine Minister of Defense and his small entourage would depart Buenos Aires on a special military flight privatly and head directly to Brasilia, where he would redevouz with his brazilian counterpart.

As this would be a top secret mission. There would be no media and the Argentinian plane would land on a private runway at Brasilia International Airport.

The Argentinean delegation is met by the Brazilian representatives.

Minister Cauteruccio, I am glad to finally meet you. We have much to discuss. Please accompany me on this Embraer Lineage 1000 Jet and let us talk about the Saint Peter Base. It will be totally private as it is important to the security of both of our nations. Our plane had been debugged twice over.

Minister DeSilva immediately reaches for the bar and has a flight attendant pour the minister two thumbs of Johnnie Walker Blue. Minister DeSilva allows the Argentinian Minister to sip his drink and get his bearings. It will be two and a half hours until they touchdown at the Saint Peter base.

Minister Cauteruccio, with the base nearing completion we must decide on how to deploy our Southern Atlantic Forces. We will have 100 hardened hangars for fighters or Maritime patrol craft and Drones. The Saint Peter Base is basically a hardened aircraft carrier. We have planned for 5 helipads and 3 radomes and 2 batteries of 4 SAMs and 2 Batteries of 4 Anti-Ship Missile Batteries.

We will have a port capable of docking 20 vessels, including 3 for submarines. There is permanent housing for 1000 Marines and 200 pilots and additional temporary housing units for up to 600 personnel in the form of CLUs.

The argentine Minister and his staff would board the Embraer jet and sit comfortably next to a window, just in front of the braizilian Minister.

"Minister, indeed the strategic importance of the island makes it a key element in any defensive strategy we could come up to protect South America and speccialy the South Atlantic from any foreign menace.

Considering the strategies employed by potential aggresors in the recent past, we must calculate that any aggresion will definitly come through air and sea and try to create a beachhead to secure its operations in the area. First we must completely deny any aggresor such position, and if somehow managed, we must immediatly cut all possible supply lines."

The Minister would then go further in detail on this.

"The St. Peter base here is marked here in yellow, say we have an aggressor coming from the west they will have to get past our bases in Amapa, Belem, Fortezela, and Natal. Each naval station is also accompanied by an Air Base and coastal batteries of surface to ship missiles that have ranges of up to 350 km. It will be quite the gauntlet before they even attempt turn south at Natal and head for Rio. Or come close to the St. Peter base for that matter."

"We have to also consider the possibility of any enemy force to land on territory of a neutral state, disregarding their sovereign position, and marching over land or taking there defensive positions as a foothole. It wouldn't surprise me, considering the disregard for internationa law of some.

This has nothing to do with the naval bases, but it is surely a way of rendering them useless by avoiding them rightaway."

"This is true, and something we have thought about. We have heavily fortified our borders with Venezuela both due to security issues, and due to the highly unstable nature of its recent governments. during some sort of coup or humanitarian crisis. The borders with Guyana and French Guyana are both well secured as we do not feel the need to station troops as much on our borders or those of Bolivia or Peru...and no one is getting through the state of Amazonas.

Cutting off enemy supply, ships and planes can directly due west from their and protect the flank of the northern Brazilian States.

The Embraer would continue its flight, and Minister Cauteruccio would look out of the window into the sunny arfternoon shining over the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean, apparently they were close to the archipielago.

"Good, but we have to consider all possibilities, even though they are very remote. How many small ships can the St. Peter Base accomodate?"

"The base can handle up to 20 ships in total, for example, 3 subs and up to 15-17 surface ships, including corvettes and frigates or even destroyers or a carrier or replenishment ships or oilers depending on the mission. Resupply ships can come also from the Natal Naval base 800 NM to the North southwest from St. Peter St. Paul.

We also have dedicated space form long range at least a battery of 4 long range intercontinental anti-ship ballistic missiles of at least 1400km, which have a reload time of just 30 minutes. A second layer of defense of another battery four ASM missiles with a range of 350 to 400km which could knock out any ships either continuing towards the base or moving further towards Brazil. We are in the process of procuring at least 8 batteries of 4 of this system.

The last layer of defense is a short range coastal defense system, which we are in the process of procuring, will have a range of up to 150 km and will be to blast away at an any potential landing ships that may have ideas of paying a heavy price for trying to take any piece of Brazilian land.

As far as ballistic missile defense, we are quite capable of defending of the Saint Paul Base, with an anti ballistic system purchased from an advanced country in the middle east."

"I strongly suggest we increase the capacity of the base to host a big number of smaller, agile ships. Up around 50 perhapts.

Did you receive the 3 Petrel Long Range Maritime Radars we shipped last month? I reccommend installing on in PP (Peter - Paul) and the other one in the continent, perhaps monitoring northwards, as no immediate and considerable threat should be comming from the South and the argentine navy is monitoring the area anyway."

"Yes, we have installed all 3 radars. One in Amapa State. One in Natal, where we have our joint Rapid Reaction Force deployed. And one on the St. Paul Base. What do you have in mind for the smaller ships?"
