Brazilian Leftists protest the Parliament's ban

The major city centres in Brazil awoke in a wave of red fury, as protesters from all across the left came together to protest against the orders of Brasilia, chanting phrases such as "Democracy Now!" and "Death to Authoritarians!", the protests initially were peaceful, however, they quickly turned violent as many streets were blocked off by burning blockades of tires.

The Protests worsened once the supporters of the government filled the streets waving the Imperial flag and other national symbols, many clashes occurred in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, in Brasilia, the protesters attempted to invade the Department of Justice and Public Security, with the security and the Police barely managing to stop them, the arrival of the supporters of the government relieved some of the pressure from the security forces by getting into conflict with the protesters, the riot police was quick to be deployed against both sides of the clashes.

The Belgian Workers Movement would express its support and solidarity for the various tendencies present on the left in Brazil.

With respect to methodology however, one might ask themselves why is it the Brazilian proletariat insists on partaking in elections alongside bourgeois political parties and contest seats in legislatures dominated by the same bourgeois parties who win those same elections? Why not take up the cause of revolution and abandon this useless vestige of antiquity in favour of mass strikes, factory seizures, and the democratization of the labouring process of production and distribution for the satisfaction of human needs as opposed to profit.

Portugal would stand firm with its Loyalist Brazilian brothers, encouraging the government to keep the peace and order. Portugal would offer a few veteran Police officers from the failed leftist coup in 1989, to travel and train local police officers in ending violent protests. Portugal would however, voice out its concern over police handling on their own people. A minister would be quoted saying;

"We must help our brothers over the Atlantic, for both of our nations are connected through the long vines of history. But do remember that we are no longer the banner of the previous administration, which advocated violence against innocents. The lives of the innocent before money and fame. Stand firm our Brazilian brothers, and may the troubles end soon."

The Portuguese Embassy in Brasilia would be ordered to be in high alert for any suspicious and dangerous activity.
