Different vehicle types

Currently, producing a tank takes as long as producing a light vehicle, which is unrealistic. Similar to how we distinguish between destroyers, carriers, frigates etc, I think there should be different types of land vehicles too. Perhaps tanks, armoured personnel carriers, and light vehicles, in that order of how long it takes to produce them?

I mean at that point we might as well have different product types for each 'category' in the catalogue, that seems the most logical

Also forgot to add aircraft- since you're only producing very small numbers of aircraft but they're counted in the same way as vehicles, producing a whole squadron takes 2 OOC days more or less which is insanely quick

This has been suggested previously, I'm not sure why it hasn't been taken onboard yet. I forgot the reasons.

This could also reasonably reduce the production time for logistics vehicles like light trucks, which would be its own benefit. At the very least, the production of aircraft is definitely far too short. At the current rate, it would be easy to mass produce an entire airforce during a conflict and deploy it, when realistically that would be impossible.

If we went for realism all production times would be made much longer with something like an aircraft carrier taking literal real life years and even the lightest vehicles taking weeks. The current system is already nicely balanced and there are enough categories. If anything we should have less of them and merge some naval categories.

I'd rather see us reduce the naval categories to three (light ships, heavy ships, and submarines) and split up vehicles into land vehicles and aircraft.

Nobody's arguing for total realism, nor for the construction time to be increased to years; the suggestion is just changing the number of categories. However the current system is too far in the other extreme, with a near total lack of realism by assuming that aircraft takes the same amount of time to build as a truck or an IFV.

I don't think the system is currently balanced since there's seven naval categories and one for both land vehicles and aircraft. I agree that having one for each catalogue category is overkill, especially since the difference in building time between a frigate and a destroyer isn't very much. I only brought it up to align the purchase order page with the catalogue, as everything else is currently aligned on both pages except that. I agree with your suggestion but would just rename heavy ships to aircraft carriers.
